For the first time in history, Riot Games will be allowing players to gift the new League of Legends champions to each other with IP (in-game currency).

Xayah and Rakan are scheduled to be unlocked in the next couple of days. During the first week of the duo’s release, players can gift the new League of Legends champions to their friends in return for a unique summoner icon. They will cost 6300 IP each, which is cheaper than the usual release price of 7800 IP for new champions.

Note that those without enough IP can resort to RP (real-world currency) as well. As long as the new League of Legends champions are gifted during the first week, players can unlock the new Gift of Magic summoner icon. Also, players just need to gift one of the duo, and not both for the freebie.

However, the Gift of Magic isn’t the only summoner icon up for grabs. Playing two or more games with Xayah and Rakan together on the same team will unlock the Blazing Feathers summoner icon. Make sure that the game is played on Summoner’s Rift as custom games will not be taken into account.

To celebrate the release of the new League of Legends champions, Riot Games will be hosting a “Double IP Weekend” from April 21 to April 23.

Xayah, the Rebel, and Rakan, the Charmer, were unveiled earlier this month as chimeric creatures known as the Vastaya. They share a special bond with each other, resulting in unique interactions through voice lines and abilities. In other words, playing together in the same lane will allow players to take advantage of certain bonus effects.

Both also feature a unique recall animation. If either Xayah or Rakan is recalling, their lover can sync up with them, choreographing a perfect return to base.
