There Have Been Over Six Million Gears Of War 4 Players, Sales Still A Mystery

New rumors have recently come about that there might be over six million Gears of War 4 players, though sales of the game still remain a mystery. Gears of War 4 came out back in October of last year and got fairly positive reviews, and signaled a triumphant return for the series.

Gears of War 4 takes place decades after the original Gears of War series, long after the Locust War has ended. Humanity is slowly rebuilding, living in walled cities and weathering huge storms that have started appearing due to the enormous amounts of ecological damage from the Locust War.

However, now a new evil threatens humanity in the form of the Swarm, born out of the corpses of the Locust Horde. The game’s new protagonist, JD Fenix, must work with his friends and Marcus Fenix, his estranged father, to discover where the Swarm is coming from and how to stop it.

The game offers not only a new version of Sera to explore, but also new enemies to fight (such as both the Swarm and COG robots known as DeeBees) and new weapons to use. Gears of War was one of the biggest shooters on the Xbox since the first one released back in 2006, and with its huge playerbase (along with each of the games being critical successes) it’s not really a surprise that so many people have played them and that Gears of War 4 is still being supported.

Gears of War 4 was also the first Gears of War game developed by an outside studio, as it was developed by The Coalition, a group of former Epic Games devs, after Microsoft acquired the series license from Epic. Though some were nervous at the game being in the hands of a relatively new studio, The Coalition was able to deliver and then some.

If you want to play Gears of War 4 and add yourself to the huge amount of Gears of War 4 players, you can buy the game on Xbox One, or PC.
