Gears 5 Horde Abilities Guide – All Usable Abilities in Horde Mode

In our Gears 5 Horde Abilities Guide, we have detailed everything you need to know about all the different abilities you can use in the Horde Mode.

Continuing with their claim of the biggest Gears of War game yet, The Coalition has added 12 unique abilities in Gears 5 Horde Mode. This guide will be discussing each of them in detail.

While the number of abilities at launch is still pretty decent, with the plans of post-launch content to include new characters you can be assured that more abilities will be added later upon which we will be updating this guide.

Gears 5 Horde Abilities

Kait can be called the face of the game and her ultimate ability is Camouflage which will make her hidden from enemies while she activates it. It’s pretty self-explanatory as far as camouflages go.

She can change camouflage according to the map she is playing in which makes her almost invisible and is perfect for sneaking up on enemies.

The ability possessed by Emile is Drop Shield. As the name suggests Emile can drop a cylindrical shield around him which can protect him and his whole squad.

The shield can stop bullets from coming inside but the drawback is that while the shield is active you also cannot shoot outside. It’s just a defensive mechanism that is handy in a pinch when you need to revive someone.

This KAT-B320 has the ultimate ability called Hologram. Kat can deploy a hologram which moves forward and draws enemy attention as well as their fire towards it and as they are directed towards the decoy you can easily take out the enemies.

It’s overall not that great as the duration of this ability is short and the enemies will start to attack you once the projection is gone.

Living Legend
Marcus’ ultimate ability can be considered ultimate as it’s called Living Legend. With this ability, Marcus can take headshots automatically without having to aim properly at the head.

Reinforce is the ability that came in Del’s share in the game. With this ability, Del can drop Deebee trackers which are capable of targeting enemies, but the duration of this ability is also short although it’s still pretty impressive.

Artillery Strike
The ability that JD has got is the artillery strike. Using this ability, you can mark enemies which will be fired with up to 5 rounds of artillery. However, it is very specific and will work better if you use it with bigger enemies.

You can shoot enemies behind walls using the X-RAY ability of Fahz. This is an incredibly helpful ability as not only do you see enemies through objects but your bullets can easily penetrate and hit your targets.

Jack’s ability is called Hijack, and it allows Jack to Hijack enemies and cause mayhem among their ranks. It’s pretty sick as you can pick any creature and control them to play as you wish.

Heavy Hitter
Sarah Connor has the heavy hitter ability with which she can use her ballistic weapons to stun and knockback enemies. Nothing fancy but it’s still respectable.

Used by Keegan this ability enables him to regenerate ammo for all nearby allies. Support Character having a supportive ability. Classic.

Lahni’s ability is the Electroblade capable of stunning and giving the enemies an electric shock using her melee weapon.

Similar to drop-shield Mac can also drop a shield for defensive purposes but this only protects Mac and not his allies.

These are all the abilities added to Gears 5. This game has so much to offer with its Horde Mode.
