The Future of Mass Effect Isn’t As Dark As We Think

Mass Effect Andromeda was nothing short of a disaster due to numerous issues with gameplay and facial animations. Although developers released patches to fix the problem by then it was too late. The company later canceled Andromeda single-player DLC as well which was a strong indication that BioWare may place Mass Effect on hiatus for a while.

The future of Mass Effect seems dark but according to BioWare and EA, it isn’t as dark as one may think. In fact, the future of Mass Effect is bright and we should expect more content to release in the future. On the N7 day, BioWare stated that “the future of Mass Effect is very bright.”

The statement is in line with something EA said previously. The publisher saw no reason to not to return to this franchise. They believe that Andromeda was criticised more than it deserved. EA’s Executive Vice President, Patrick Söderlund said:

Mass Effect as a franchise, that has such a big fanbase, and you know I’ve seen people saying ‘Oh, EA’s not making another Mass Effect’. I see no reason why we shouldn’t come back to Mass Effect. Why not? It’s a spectacular universe, it’s a loved [series], it has a big fanbase, and it’s a game that has done a lot for EA and for BioWare.

Whenever they bring back Mass Effect they need to be careful of one thing, do not use experimental technology in such a major IP.

Do you think Mass Effect Andromeda was criticized more than it deserved? Would you like to see another game in the series? Let us know in the comments.
