Frostpunk Has Another DLC After Endless Mode

11 Bit Studios is one of those developer studios that you definitely want to keep on your radar if you love indie games. After an excellent start with This War of Mine, 11 Bit moved on to even greater successes like Children of Morta and, of course, Frostpunk.

In a recent interview with SegmentNext, Pawel Miechowski, the partnership manager in the studio, confirmed that the studio is working on more DLC for Frostpunk, expanding its universe and adding more content to its already diverse mechanics.

When asked about which of their games was the best the studio released so far, Miechowski was quick to state the obvious. It came with great news though. Frostpunk is 11 Bit Studios’ biggest commercial hit and there’s at least one more DLC joining its ranks in the near future. He said:

So far the biggest commercial hit is Frostpunk. Now we are developing two major paid DLCs for the game to expand its universe. And when it comes to other projects – we’ll see what future brings.

It doesn’t come as a surprise that Frostpunk attracted so many players in such a small period of time. City building games didn’t have their best time over the past couple of years, with titles like Anno keeping the genre alive. Frostpunk not only included intriguing city management and survival system but also offered a cultural awakening too. 11 Bit Studios is extremely proud of both this project and This War of Mine for the messages they deliver to their respective audiences. Miechowski claims:

When we defined our philosophy of creating meaningful entertainment, our goal was to make games that are addicting, well-done gameplay-wise and at the same time having power to spread a message or provoke to thinking.

11 Bit Studios won’t stop at another Frostpunk DLC though. The studio has 3 teams on their projects and they’re already working on something completely new. As far as we know, it will be similar to what This War of Mine and Frostpunk is. Their codenamed Project 8 (it is the studio’s 8th video game) will too have a message to deliver to players. Hopefully, it will carry the same emotional power that both previous titles will.

We still don’t know what the new DLC for Frostpunk will be about. If it is meant to expand its universe though, we hope it is a new story scenario. We know we’d love that. Make sure to read our previous interview with the studio for more information on their future projects.

Always looking for a deep story, empathetic characters, and a great soundtrack in video games. Hardcore game hoarder and a strong believer that one day Xbox will win the console war.
