Fortnite Late Game Changes, Less Building And Shotguns More Variety

Epic Games is changing their flagship title not only by adding new content and cosmetics but also intends to slowly change Fortnite late game with balance tweaks to building and shotguns to provide more versatility to players.

If you are a decent player in the popular battle royale title, you must have noticed that the Fortnite late game pretty much consists of the same things. Having large amounts of materials to start building huge structures and own a shotgun. Epic Games states, in a recent developer post that this will change in multiple ways to ensure variety:

It’s important to support a variety of late-game strategies, that don’t boil down to “just build lol”. We strongly believe that the evolution of Fortnite supports a wide range of play styles and counterplay. Currently, the superiority of shotguns, rockets, and uncapped building are such a dominant play style in the final circle that most other strategies are being drowned out.

You should be able to find Victory Royales through multiple strategies. Shotguns should be strong, but other weapons have room to grow. Not every encounter should have to end in a build-off. We want to empower you to showcase your skill, strategy, and tactics in all variety of ways.

That being said, Epic Games will make some tweaks to weapon balance and resource economy to ensure variety to Fortnite late game. This possibly means less damage for shotguns, or more bullet consumption and smaller material cap.

Given the fact that Fortnite, unline PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, has only one map and pretty much standard things to do in each match, making some changes to its late-game looks like one step in the right direction.

Do you think Fortnite late game needs more versatility in the way it’s played? What else would you change if you had the chance?
