Square Enix Has no Plans to Release Final Fantasy 7 Remake on Xbox One

Square Enix has confirmed in a new statement that Final Fantasy 7 Remake is not coming to Xbox One. FF7 Remake is a PS4 exclusive.

Square Enix has now confirmed that they have no plans to release Final Fantasy 7 Remake on Xbox One. This clarification was very much needed after yesterday’s mistake made by Xbox Germany which made everyone believe that Final Fantasy VII Remake is coming to Xbox in 2020.

The developer confirmed to IGN in a statement that it was nothing but a mistake. In addition to this, Square Enix reassured everyone that they have no plans to release Final Fantasy VII Remake on any other platform other than PlayStation 4. In short, FF7 Remake will release as a PS4 exclusive title in 2020.

As previously announced, Final Fantasy VII Remake will be released for the PlayStation 4 on March 3rd, 2020. We have no plans for other platforms

This is sad news for Xbox One owners who were looking forward to play Final Fantasy VII Remake. All the credit of crushing everyone’s dreams of playing Final Fantasy 7 Remake goes to Xbox Germany.

Xbox Germany Facebook page started this rumor recently by uploading a video which mentioned that Final Fantasy 7 Remake is coming to Xbox One on March 3, 2020.

Later it was confirmed by Xbox Germany’s marketing communications and social lead Maxi Graff that the listing was an internal mistake. Maxi Graff apologized to all the fans and said that they will make sure that this kind of mistake doesn’t happen again.

Seems like Microsoft is in a lot of trouble when it comes to Final Fantasy games. As we reported before, Final Fantasy 14 game director recently said that Microsoft is the reason why the online game is not yet available on Xbox One yet.

However, we do know that the upcoming entry in Final Fantasy series is coming to next-generation Sony PlayStation 5.

Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda recently revealed in an interview that the game is being developed as a cross-generation title. Keeping that in mind, it’s expected that the next chapter of FF7 Remake will arrive on both PS4 and PS5.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake is an episodic game. It means that the game will arrive in separate chapters instead of releasing all at once as it was originally sold on PlayStation 1.

The game was shown in detail during E3 2019. Gameplay was also shown to some select people. Those interested in the gameplay can check out the video below by IGN.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake PS4 will release on March 3, 2020, for PS4. In addition to this, the game will arrive on two discs like Red Dead Redemption 2. With that confirmed, we can expect the digital download size of the game to be easily above 50 GB.

For now, Xbox owners can do nothing but shift to PlayStation 4 if they want to play Final Fantasy 7 Remake in 2020.
