Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn Errors, Crashes, Client, Lag, Connection and Fixes

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn
Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn is a must have title for millions of Final Fantasy Fans out there. Regardless of its appeal and hype, the game being an MMO is bound to suffer from the post launch syndrome which involves connection issues and client crashes.

Some of these issues will be fixed as the time progress but there are always some workarounds that can be used as temporary solutions.

#1 Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn Performance Issues
Many users have reported poot performance issues even at high end PCs and these issues weren’t there in the phase 4 of beta testing. The random FPS drop/graphical lags can be due to multiple reasons. Generally, you can sort them out as following:

  • First things first, you need to be sure that you are running the latest version of your GFX drivers. Sometimes the manufacturers release optimized version of drivers for specific games so you need to keep yourself updated as these drivers can boost performance to greater degree.
  • If you are using a SLI or Crossfire, you need to disable one of your cards and run the game using single GPU.
  • I am not sure about the multi-monitor performance but if you are running out of options, try running the game using a single screen.

#4 Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn Unable to complete version check [30410][30607][20457][404]
This error will pop up if your firewall or any other tool is interfering with game’s connection to your router/modem. To sort out the issue, you can try disabling your firewall or any other security software temporarily. This may help the client to download the necessary update and the error can go away.

#5 Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn Error 1017
You will come across this sometimes when the servers are overflowing. So, in order to prevent the further load, the members trying to enter can receive this error. So the only fix is to wait a bit and then log back in after a while.

#6 Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn Lag Fix
MMO games tend to suffer a lot from lag issues around the launch. If you are dead sure that your connection isn’t causing the problem then you need to wait for the patch to fix the issue. At your end however, you should make sure that your firewall isn’t blocking the connection and you aren’t running any applications eating up your bandwidth.

#7 Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn Mouse Pointer Issue
Many Vista users have reported in that they don’t get a mouse pointer in the full screen mode. A temporary fix can be to run the game in the windowed mode but there are chances that in windowed mode, you will get very poor performance. As of now, there is no proper fix for it so I guess that we might have to wait before the next patch is rolled in by the developer.
