The Elder Scrolls 6 Lifetime Is Intended To Be Designed For Ten Years

Todd Howard has said that The Elder Scrolls 6 lifetime is intended to last ten years, longer than the current lifetime of Skyrim.

Bethesda’s Todd Howard apparently wants Bethesda to have a second Skyrim on their hands. In an interview with IGN, Todd Howard said that he wants the Elder Scrolls 6 lifetime to be designed to last at least ten years, currently two years longer than the existence of Skyrim has lasted now.

The Elder Scrolls is a very popular game series, made even more so by the fact that it takes years-long gaps to have a new game released. When Skyrim was released back in 2011 it took the world by storm, and has remained consistently popular since then.

This has come not only from various re-releases in the past few years to the current generation, but the sheer amount of mods available that could add in a wide variety of weapons, armor, quests, characters, and dungeons.

The fact that the Elder Scrolls 6 lifetime is intended to mimic or even eclipse Skyrim’s own. Howard says that the game will likely release sometime next generation, and with the added power of consoles then there will likely be a lot of stuff to explore in the game.

We still don’t know very many details about the new Elder Scrolls game, such as what region of Tamriel that it’s set in, what the plot is, what the world will be like, and more. But hopefully with it Bethesda can get out of the funk it’s been in the past few years.

After two different Fallout games were released, one to middling reviews and one to outright negative ones, Bethesda has been having a rough streak. If The Elder Scrolls 6 is good, however, it could at least help the company get back into the spotlight for a while.

Of course, whether the Elder Scrolls 6 lifetime will actually manage to last for ten years remains to be seen, especially if it turns out to be another Fallout 4-styled game, which got criticism for not being as open-ended as Fallout 3 or New Vegas and had a large number of other niggling mechanics as well.
