In EA Sports UFC, Takedown refers to a move which involves grounding your opponent, which opens up several possibilities of dealing damage and even a Submission.

EA Sports UFC Takedowns

In this guide, I’ll be laying down the basics of Takedowns and how you can avoid them. Once you’ve mastered the basics, you can mix them up to create your unique fighting style!

How to Takedown your Opponents

A simple takedown is performed by holding down the L2/LT and pushing the right analogue stick either towards or away from your opponent.

Doing so will lunge your character towards your opponent. However, this certainly doesn’t mean that you’ve performed a successful Takedown. In order to lock your Takedown, you’ll have to rotate the right analogue stick in either clockwise or counter-clockwise direction.

You can also perform a Power Takedown by holding down L1/LB before executing a Takedown. Once you’ve successfully taken down your opponent, you’ll have a number of follow-up attacks.

However, if you wish to stand up and leave your opponent in that position, you can simply tap the left analogue stick in any direction and stand back up.

You can also opt for a Takedown right after a Clinch instead of a direct one. Doing so is exactly like performing a direct Takedown, but you just have to do it after a Tie-Clinch.

How to Escape a Takedown

You need to have some sharp eyes to evade a Takedown. You’ll notice that each character will have a short animation of lunging forward before a Takedown.

As soon as you see this animation, hold down the R2/RT and push the right analogue stick in the downward direction.

However, if you’re unable to do so, you’ll still have some time before your opponent can lock in his/her Takedown. While they are trying to lock in their Takedown, press the left analogue stick, and you will get back on your feet in no time.
