VR Games Coming to Project Scorpio Says Michael Pachter, Microsoft Says Otherwise

VR games and VR devices have become a major focus for content creators as well as hardware developers. Sony, Samsung, Oculus, and HTC have jumped in to grab the biggest PC market share but Microsoft is yet to focus on VR side of things. Just a few months ago, Microsoft confirmed that it won’t be coming with VR content for Project Scorpio at this year’s E3 2017. However, Michael Pachter, the great visionary of our gaming industry, know more about Microsoft’s plans than Alex Kipman, technical fellow at Microsoft.

According to Pachter, at E3 2017 Microsoft is likely to announce something on the VR side of Project Scorpio. He is predicting a partnership with Oculus Rift for Project Scorpio games. He is also expecting something to be announced for HoloLens.

Microsoft is most likely to announce something on the VR side with Scorpio (likely a partnership with Oculus) and a ton of games,” Pachter said. “I also expect something on Hololens. They will probably be light on new IP, but you never know.

But interestingly Alex confirmed some time back that Microsoft’s primary focus is making mixed reality experiences for Windows 10 PCs. The company believes that Windows 10 is the best platform from mixed reality experiences. They have nothing VR related at E3 2017 for Project Scorpio.

Our primary focus is making our mixed reality experiences a success on Windows 10 PCs. We believe that right now a Windows PC is the best platform for mixed reality as its open ecosystem and enormous installed base offer the best opportunity for developers, and Windows offers the most choices for consumers.
