Driveclub Playstation Plus Edition to be Removed in October

If you don't have Driveclub PlayStation Plus Edition downloaded now may be the time to get it, before Sony remove it in October's PS Plus update.

After the initial problems even getting Driveclub PS Plus Edition onto the PlayStation 4, it looked that everything was now moving smoothly. This won’t be the case for long as it has now been announced that the game will be removed from the service on October 6.

Sony has announced its updates for PlayStation Plus for October, and as usual that includes games which will be removed. At the bottom of this list is Driveclub PS Plus Edition. While initially planned for a November 2013 release, it was delayed until October 2014 and now appears to have reached its end a year later.

When finally released the game gave players on PlayStation Plus access to 15 cars and 13 tracks, based on the India location for the game. It also gave them the full suite of modes. Allowing users to upgrade to the full version at a discounted price it was a good way for people to get a try of the game before deciding whether they wanted to make the leap to the full content. Whether this upgrade discount will still be available is unknown at this time.

What is strange is why is the Driveclub PlayStation Plus Edition being removed at all? Have Sony got something different planned? For that we’ll have to wait and see, but I’m sure that gamers will be interested to see if anything comes of this. If not, they’ll be looking for a reason for the games removal.

The only thing we can do for now is to make sure we have the game downloaded and hope that no restrictions are placed on the service for people who already own it.
