DMC5 throws a lot of new mechanics and tools your way to create variety and fun. For some of these upgrades, you will need to detract from the main path to smash through Orbs to acquire new skills and gear. Here is how to farm Red Orbs via the different methods highlighted in our Devil May Cry 5 Red Orbs Farming Guide below.
Devil May Cry 5 Red Orbs Farming
The Red Orb is the most prominent and abundant resource in Capcom’s DMC5. In appearance, they can be described as crystallized or solidified versions of demons’ blood.
These serve as the in-game currency allowing you to upgrade existing gear or unlock a new one. The stuff that you can get your hands on include Devil Trigger enhancements, higher-tier Orbs, and a plethora of new skills.
Red Orbs will also allow you to pay a certain amount in order to revive in a level.
On the highest level, the revive option will consume the Red Orbs to not only give you a second chance after death but also deduct 30% from the boss enemy’s HP you were facing before your untimely demise.
We recommended using Red Orbs for the skills since these add more dynamism and possibilities in the battle by allowing you to perform different combos and situational attacks.
Once you have gathered the Red Orbs one way or another, you can spend these at *Nico’s Shop* for one of the above-mentioned purposes except for respawning after death.
How to Farm Red Orbs?
The most consistent and convenient method of obtaining the Red Orbs remain via exploration.
These are riddled in a bunch of locations in Devil May Cry 5, so always wander around, check every corner, and look around for hidden pathways or elevated platforms where these Red Orbs might be located.
Throughout your journey, you will find Red Orb Fragments to destroy, Red Orb Trees to bring down, and enemies highlighted with a red aura to be eliminated with the latter two methods netting you a huge amount of Red Orbs.
Moreover, even standard foes will drop Red Orbs if you fight stylishly utilizing different moves, weapons, and combos.
Alternatively, you can complete the entire mission with *a higher Style Rank* to get a decent amount of Red Orbs as the reward at the victory screen.
Lastly, if you are the rich-type and do not want to put in the extra effort, you can simply purchase a Pack of Red Orbs from the platform’s store where the location will factor into the cost of the packs.
Red Orbs Farming Tips
There are a bunch of farming techniques that you might want to consider if you’re aiming to farm red orbs in bulk. One of the main techniques for bulk farming is Dr. Faust’s Hat Trick which is basically a glitch that you can exploit while you have it.
You’re going to want to get to Mission 13 of the game in order to be able to use this trick.
Dr. Faust’s Hat Trick
Technically, this is a glitch and maybe patched out in the next upgrade for the game. While it is there, you may as well exploit the farming method.
It would be safe to say that Dr. Faust’s Hat Trick is a risk or reward method. By that, we mean that you’ll first have to spend a significant amount of the existing orbs you have to get rewarded by the double amount of red orbs.
You’ll be spending your existing orbs on dealing with the enemies, and once they are dead, you’ll be rewarded with a double amount of red orbs. The rewarded amount will be crazy and way more than what you initially spent.
However, it’s not as simple as it seems. This whole method does come with a risk factor. If you find yourself injured in the process of dealing with the enemies, you’ll lose your current orbs and 30% of your health bar. Yikes.
Although it is a tricky situation to be in, it’s still one of the best techniques to farm red orbs in bulk. Your main aim is to increase the level of Dr. Faut’s Hat. If you make it through all the obstacles, you’ll be victorious.
Once you’ve farmed red orbs from killing the enemies around you, you’ll successfully be able to level up the hat to level 4. This levelling costs approximately 50,000 orbs which is very much worth it. However, to get to level 4, you’ll have to play the mission as Dante and equip Dr. Faust.
If you are not able to unlock that level yet, start with a lower level one and upgrade it.
When the hat’s level increases, your chances to farm a large number of red orbs also increase. It creates an ideal situation for you to be in without actually spending real-life money on the red orbs. While you’re at level 4, collect as many red orbs as possible to make the most out of your initially spent amount.
We also recommend you to have a little practice run before you go for your actual farming run. A little practice beforehand will help you be efficient with the hat’s trick ability and cut down the timing.
Once you have equipped Dr. Faust’s level four weapon, continue until you reach to Mission 13, where you’ll gain access to Dr. Faust’s Throwable Hat Weapon.
As you reach Mission 13, find the Divinity Statue that is acting as a checkpoint. Next to the statue, you’ll find a hole drilled in the ground that you’ll have to jump in. Here, you’ll be combatting enemies spawning from four different nests and four blood clots.
As you’re in the hole, grab onto the first thing that appears in front of you and press your circle key to throw the hat. The hat will do a complete circle around, and then you can grab it back by pressing your square key. As the hat is in your hand, press the shoot key.
You’ll have to use the “Gunslinger G-Stance “and press R1/RB while simultaneously pressing B/Circle rapidly to perform an AOE attack that drains Red Orbs from your foes. An explosion will take place that’ll kill the enemies.
Once you have cleared a bunch of enemies and only see a handful remaining in front of you, restart from the checkpoint. You will not lose your Red Orb count so continue to repeat the process and farm Red Orbs.
Dr. Faust’s Exploit Glitch Rewards
Using the hat trick is one of the essential techniques to farm as many red orbs as possible. With each successful hit to the enemies, you can earn up to 5,000 to 30,000 orbs per attack. Although this technique might come across as risky, it is worth a shot.
Keep in mind that you can earn 85,000 red orbs per minute with the Level 4 Dr. Faust, which is straight-up 5,000,000 orbs per hour. While for Level 3 Dr. Faust, you get approximately 36,000 red orbs per minute, a whopping 2,160,000 per hour!
Other Farming Techniques
Apart from Dr. Faust’s Exploit, we have some other techniques that you may want to consider on your way to farming. Following are some methods we recommend.
Red Orb spawning trees
Although it is considered one of the standard practices to collect red orbs in DMC5, it’s still very beneficial. When you’re playing the game, some trees spawn with red orbs on them that can be collected. The best part about these spawning trees is that they provide you red orbs according to your style meter. Higher style gives a more significant number of red orbs. That’s why regardless of it being a standard method to collect red orbs, it still highly beneficial.
It is also worth mentioning that you can always reload that game to have the trees spawn near you, and it’s guaranteed that you’ll get at least 5,000 orbs from these trees.
Difficulty, Style, and Orbs
Having a higher difficulty level and higher style meter results in getting a higher number of orbs. For this, you need to polish your skills and test the grounds in higher difficulty levels. By doing so, you will be rewarded with more orbs than you would usually get.
This method does not guarantee you the exact number of orbs you’ll be rewarded with; however, it is quite clear that high skill levels will result in more kills. The greater the number of kills, the more significant number of red orbs you get. On top of that, as previously mentioned, a high style meter will guarantee you more red orbs.
And apart from the red orbs, you’ll be killing many more enemies, which is the primary purpose of your game.
Red Orbs Cache
You’ll have to find the hidden locations for this technique of getting red orbs. In DMC 5, the game developers snuck in some secret locations containing a huge number of red orbs. Once you find these locations, you’ve basically hit the ultimate jackpot.
