Destiny has been a huge success for Activision and Bungie, so it comes as no surprise that a sequel to the game is being developed. While the rumors are circling the internet that unlike the first game, Destiny 2 will be available for PC, Activision has given an update on the development for the game.
Speaking during the company’s financial briefing, Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg said that Destiny 2 is on track for release in fall 2017 and further added that the developers are looking to appeal not only the existing fans but to widen its audience.
We’re on track and excited about what we think is going to be an awesome sequel for Destiny in 2017.the sequel is designed to excite both our highly engaged current players, but also to broaden the appeal even further, bringing in new fans and bringing back old fans as well.
He further said that the developers could not keep up with the demand of content for the first game, but together they have come up with a new approach to keep a steady stream of content going.
Beyond that, the incredible demand for Destiny content has somewhat outpaced our ability to deliver upon that demand, and going forward along with our partners at Bungie, have put together what we believe is a very smart approach that will allow us to deliver the steady stream of great content to keep our players engaged and keep our universe alive and growing in the wake of that sequel.
However, it seems a bit odd that Activision is confident about the release of the game in fall 2017, since back in May it was revealed that Destiny 2 was rebooted due to staff reorganization.
