Public Test Realms(PTR) are becoming increasingly common in AAA multiplayer titles such as Overwatch and The Division and Destiny fans are wondering if there is going to be a Destiny 2 PTR. According to game director Luke Smith, the studio has not planned any Destiny 2 PTR.
Luke Smith answered a bunch of questions in a video for Wired, in which he talked about different aspects of the upcoming Destiny 2. He revealed that Bungie has no plans for Destiny 2 PTR but, thinks that they are amazing and intends to challenge the team without exposing it to the public.
while I think that test realms would be amazing for things like stability, I’m still interested in challenging us to do our best job without having to expose it to the public. I wouldn’t say never, but I wouldn’t say yes.
Also, Bungie has revealed that the upcoming sequel could run at 60 FPS on consoles and also explained that it won’t do it because that would require compromises.
According to executive producer Mark Noseworthy, the upcoming sequel could run at 60 FPS on consoles but, for that to happen the game has to be more linear, less co-op opportunities among players, and there will be fewer enemies to shoot at.
Also, Destiny 2 doesn’t require highest light level gear in order to decrypt engrams. Destiny 2 project lead, Mark Noseworthy, confirmed that players will no longer be required to equip highest level gear in order to get the high-power drops in Destiny 2. He added that the upcoming sequel, Destiny 2, will now take players’ best possible loadout into account while decrypting the engrams.
Destiny 2 is a first-person action shooter in development at Bungie and is scheduled to launch this fall for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
