Destiny 2 Can Run At 60 FPS On Consoles But, It Would Require Compromises

Destiny 2 runs at 30 FPS on all consoles even on the Xbox One X and while Bungie has explained why it runs at 30 FPS on Xbox One X, the studio has revealed that Destiny 2 could run at 60 FPS on consoles. According to Bungie, Destiny 2 could run at 60 FPS on consoles but, doing so would require compromises that they can’t make.

Speaking to Edge Magazine, executive producer Mark Noseworthy noted that the upcoming sequel could run at 60 FPS on consoles but, for that to happen the game has to be more linear, less co-op opportunities among players, and there will be fewer enemies to shoot at.

Could we make a Destiny game that ran at 60 FPS? Yes. But the space would be smaller, it would be less cooperative, and there’d be fewer monsters to shoot. That’s not the game we want to make.

He added that Bungie doesn’t feel like being held back by this choice and they want to make Destiny 2 an incredible game. He noted that Bungie is offering a type of game experience that players won’t find in any other game.

We don’t feel we’ve been held back by the choices we’ve made about world simulation versus frame rate. We think we’re offering a player experience you can’t have elsewhere because of the choices we’re making.

Also, Destiny 2 PC version will block third-party apps for in-game captures and voice chat. Bungie has announced that some of the third-party apps for in-game capture and voice chat will not work properly with Destiny 2 on PC.

Furthermore, Bungie has also detailed the content that will be included in the Destiny 2 Beta. According to Bungie, in addition to everything from console beta, PC beta will include more content.

Destiny 2 is a first-person action shooter in development at Bungie and is scheduled to launch this fall for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
