Death Stranding Order 3: Cremation, Delivering President’s Body to Incinerator

In the very early hours of Death Stranding, players are tasked with delivering the President’s body to the Incinerator. This walkthrough will help them navigate Sam through the world of Death Stranding as they complete Order 3: Cremation and deliver the President’s body.

Death Stranding Order 3: Cremation

It is advised to bring at least two ladders with you when starting this mission as they are pretty useful when crossing streams.

Leaving the Isolation Ward with the corpse attached to your back, follow the road heading west to go outside of Capital Knot City, you’ll need to head west past the branches of the river and into a ravine that will lead you higher in elevation up to the Incinerator.

The Body you will be carrying will be quite heavy and you will have to cross water, to get to your destination. Watch out for the yellow dots in rivers, they are an indication of deep waters. This is where you could use your ladder tools to help you cross.

Follow the stream of water until you see the waterfalls. From there use your Odradek and find the rope.

Use the rope you found to climb the mountain. Continue straight and you will also find a ladder. Climb it and spot the Incinerator Facility.

Activate the terminal inside the facility to start the incinerator and trigger a cutscene, in which you’ll be attacked and surrounded by BT’s.

Instead of also incinerating the BB unit that failed during the prologue you instead choose to use it to get through the BT encounter.

To finish Order 3 Cremation mission you’ll have to head through the BT territory and get back to Capital Knot City.Take the same route you used to get to this position.

Handling the BTs
When passing through BT territory use crouch you’re your Odradek Scanner Often, its arms will help you pinpoint the location of BTs so you can avoid them.

Odradek Arm Signals

  • Blue and Clicking slowly– This signal means that while BT’s are in the area, they are further away and present no immediate threat
  • Blue and Clicking rapidly– This signal indicates that the BT’s are even closer than the first signal, and while you’re not in immediate danger, try and move in the opposite direction of this signal.
  • Orange and Spinning– BT’s are right on top of you, and you need to know how to respond so you’re not caught. You’ll want to hold your breath whenever this signal comes up.

When BT’s are in the nearest vicinity they are close enough to even hear you breathing and can find you just on that.

Once the signal shifts to orange, press and hold R1 to hold your breath. As you do this, it will deplete your endurance gauge, indicated with a bar near your character.

Hold your breath and move away from the nearest BT, once the arm shifts back to blue, you can let go of your held breath.

Be careful though, when you let go, you’ll take in a modest amount of breath and if you run out of endurance fully, you’ll gasp for air. Both of these will give an auditory cue to the BT’s on your location, so avoid taking a deep breath while the signal is orange and wait for the blue shift before taking that needed breath of air.

If the BT’s catch up with you and pinpoint your location, a black circle will explode from the ground and arms will reach out to grab and pull you down.

Come out of your crouch with circle and use square to shake off the BT’s until you’re on solid ground again, then crouch back down and go back into your regular avoidance of the BT’s.
