The development of Death Stranding is near completion. The first work of Hideo Kojima away from Konami, this time in his own studio, Kojima Productions, has had a development time of less than 3 years. The Japanese creative confirmed this in an interview with GameSpot.

Kojima has revealed that the game has consisted of a team of exactly 80 people, an amount surprisingly lower than the standards we have been seeing in other developments of AAA category games (sometimes more than 400 or 500 people), those with budgets of several tens of millions of dollars behind them.

Also, the father of Metal Gear is known for quickly developing magnificent titles, he thinks he is fast when it comes to speed up projects. He also believes that it is good to make important decisions efficiently, something that has also happened in Death Stranding.

Unlike with Metal Gear Solid 5 (2015), they did not have to work from scratch on a new graphics engine, but has used the Tenth Engine of Guerrilla Games, authors of Horizon: Zero Dawn. This is one of the reasons why it has taken less time to develop Death Stranding.

The role of Hideo Kojima in the game has not been based solely on the work of direction and supervision of the materials. Calling it “author’s work” is right in that case, as he confirmed.

So yeah, it was the same with the stealth genre before, but since I do most of, or part of, everything–like the game design, or the theme, or story, or the cutscenes–the theme was always there about connection, and that’s why it’s consistent. I think that’s the key to making this new genre, as you say. If i was doing just the story, it wouldn’t be what you see it today.

Attendees at Madrid Games Week, the Spanish fair that will be held from October 3 to 6 at IFEMA, will feature in the PlayStation stand with exclusive content from Death Stranding. We are excited to see what they will show!

Given that Death Stranding will be a game where the mission will be to unify a nation known as United Cities of America (UCA), it seemed that it had a political and social message. That said, Hideo Kojima, director of Death Stranding, has already confirmed that his game presents metaphors of the element of the world.

As we mentioned, Death Stranding will be a game in which you will have to unify UCA through the Chiral Network, a communication channel that also functions as a kind of social network. Thus, there are people in this world who are against the surveillance that this network delivers, so they will fight against it.

Kojima explained that, although Death Stranding takes place in the United States, it caused him to have some changes so that players do not feel they are in this country. He also mentioned that, as in the real world, the Internet has had an impact on the lives of Death Stranding individuals.

Finally, Kojima said that players will be free to decide if connecting to the UCA is a good thing, but he will not say whether it is positive or negative to connect. It really depends on the players who see how they feel when playing the game.

I remind you that Death Stranding will release on November 8 for PS4.
