Death Stranding Character Heartman Detailed by Kojima

Filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn and Hideo Kojima recently sat down during San Diego Comic-Con 2019 to discuss Death Stranding character Heartman. For those who don’t know, Heartman is being played by Nicolas Winding Refn (film director of Drive).

The panel attendees were first shown a short clip during which Sam (Norman Reedus) is looking upon Heartman who has an electronic metal box attached to his torso.

Heartman then begins to explain his unique condition and says that he can only stay awake for about 21 minutes before he dies. After dying, Heartman spends 3 minutes of his life on the other side searching for his family, who he lost because of the Death Stranding event. And when he’s resurrected, Heartman likes to collect music and movies within 20 minutes.

I make movies and when I work with actors, it’s flamboyant and colorful and warm, and then I come here and it’s like, ‘Take your clothes off. We’re going to paint your face with dots, Refn said about working on Death Stranding.

For now, that’s pretty much all that Hideo Kojima wants us to know about Heartman character in Death Stranding. If you ask me, Heartman is another mysterious and interesting character in the game. It will be interesting to see how connecting with Heartman plays out in the game.

Afterward, Hideo Kojima talked about how he approached Refn and how he wanted to meet Mads Mikkelsen, who will play a major role as the character of Cliff in Death Stranding.

Interestingly, Kojima mentioned during the panel that Refn actually recommended Keanu Reeves for Mads Mikkelsen’s role. “That would’ve been a threesome,” Refn joked.

With that said, we can’t wait to play the game when it releases on November 8, 2019, exclusively for PlayStation 4.

Death Stranding cast includes talented Hollywood actors like Norman Reedus as Sam, Mads Mikkelsen as Cliff, Guillermo del Toro as Deadman, Troy Baker as Higgs, Lindsay Wagner as Amelie, Margaret Qualley as Mama, Léa Seydoux as Fragile, Tommie Earl Jenkins as Die-Hardman and more.

The mysterious game from Kojima Productions is now available for pre-order. Kojima took the stage at Comic-Con 2019 to reveal Death Stranding box art and the special-edition SteelBook version.
