CD Projekt RED has apparently stated that Cyberpunk bullet time will be possible in the game, through the use of an inhaler-based reflex boosting drug within the actual game. While it’s not like FEAR and its own inbuilt bullet time, it should come in handy in the actual Cyberpunk game.
Bullet time is a staple of multiple shooters, such as both First Encounter Assault Recon and the Max Payne games, and if Cyberpunk 2077 also has bullet time, even if it’s a consumable item, it should allow players to be able to get through tight spots, and who knows what else it might be used for.
Considering that Cyberpunk 2077 takes place in the future, it’s no surprise that like in other future-based shooter games that creative drugs are widespread. If a reflex boosting drug that can make you perceive things more slowly is used in the game to make you go into bullet time, it’s likely that there will be a number of other drugs as well.
In addition to the Cyberpunk bullet time drug, you might also get a drug that helps you take more damage, gain accuracy, and more. You’ll probably either be able to buy the drugs on your own from street vendors or possibly legitimate stores, and even then you’ll also probably be able to find them as loot off of enemies.
Consumables like the Cyberpunk bullet time drug might even be similar to the Witcher games’s potions system, where by gathering various ingredients in the wider world you could create potions that would help you in battle. Of course, we won’t know how they’ll work for sure until we get more gameplay and information about the game.
There’s no specific release date for Cyberpunk 2077 yet, but hopefully it will be coming out this generation and make that wait well worth it. The game will be coming out on Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.
