Cyberpunk 2077 Might Come to Nintendo Switch Eventually

According to CD Projekt Red, Cyberpunk 2077 might release on Xbox Scarlett, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch in the future.

Cyberpunk 2077 might come to Nintendo Switch as hinted by CD Projekt Red recently. For those who don’t know, Cyberpunk 2077 has not been confirmed yet for release on next-gen hardware or Nintendo Switch.

CD Projekt Red’s lead designer Pawel Sasko recently told Eurogamer that the studio is currently focused on the current generation of consoles and PC but the studio is also looking into the possibilities of bringing Cyberpunk 2077 to next-generation consoles.

Afterward, Gamingbolt asked Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz about Cyberpunk 2077 coming to Nintendo Switch. Tomaszkiewicz replied by saying that they are currently focused on the game’s launch platforms for now.

The good news is that there wasn’t a yes or no by Tomaszkiewicz. Keeping that in mind, it’s possible that we will get Cyberpunk 2077 Nintendo Switch sometime later in the future similar to The Witcher 3 on Nintendo Switch. If that happens, it’s obvious that Cyberpunk 2077 game will go through some graphical downgrades but will be worth having on Nintendo’s hybrid console.

It’s possible that CD Projekt is waiting for the next version of Switch console which might help the game run better in portable and dock mode. According to different reports, Nintendo is working on two new versions of Switch including Nintendo Switch Pro and Switch Mini.

If the reports are to be believed, Nintendo Switch Pro will come with powerful hardware as compared to the original console and with additional storage. In addition to this, Nintendo Switch Pro is rumored to have an upgraded display and more features. We can do nothing but speculate at the moment. Of course, we do want to see Cyberpunk 2077 on Switch but only if it’s playable.

It also depends on the success of The Witcher 3 on Switch. If the game is able to run well on Switch then CD Projekt might finally decide to port Cyberpunk 2077 to Switch. To find out, we will have to wait.

As expected, CD Projekt will not miss the opportunity to double its money by releasing the game on both current generation consoles including Nintendo Switch and next-gen consoles. Microsoft has already confirmed that Xbox Scarlett will release in holiday 2020 while PlayStation 5 is rumored to release around the same time.

We are expecting to see some major improvements in Cyberpunk 2077 on next-generation hardware as compared to current-generation. Also, Cyberpunk 2077 supports Ray-tracing, a feature confirmed for Xbox Scarlett and PlayStation 5. The upcoming Scifi game will also support NVIDIA’s RTX Ray Tracing technology on PC.

CD Projekt Red released a set of new Cyberpunk 2077 screenshots and a trailer recently to showcase the game’s beautiful characters, environments and RTX (Ray Tracing technology). Interested folks can check out the trailer below to learn how Cyberpunk 2077 will utilize RTX.

As for Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer, it will not be available at launch. However, it’s possible that we will get Cyberpunk multiplayer sometime in the future as revealed by the developer.

Cyberpunk 2077 will release on April 16th, 2020 for PC, Sony’s PS4, and Xbox One. We can expect to learn more about Cyberpunk 2077 coming to Nintendo Switch after the game’s launch next year.
