A rumor has been going around recently that the Cyberpunk 2077 consoles of choice would be in the next generation of consoles, meaning that the game wouldn’t be coming out until the next versions of the Xbox and Playstation are coming out. However, CD Projekt RED has said we’ll see it this generation.
Considering that news has recently come out that the Playstation 5 is already in production as the Playstation 4 nears the end of its lifecycle (in around three more years), and the Xbox One is likely experiencing a similar wind-down, it’s not a surprise that people thought that Cyberpunk would be delayed to next-gen consoles.
The game has, after all, had a very slow development cycle. It was first announced in 2013 and we got essentially no news about it until the last two or so years, so it’s only natural people would think about that. However, Patrick Mills, the game’s quest designer, has spoken out against these rumors about Cyberpunk 2077 consoles, saying that the studio is aiming for this generation, on Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.
Cyberpunk 2077 finally got its E3 debut earlier this week at the Microsoft conference, and wowed many fans with its presentation, world, and set pieces. However, we still don’t have a release date for the game, which is one of the main issues that have likely led to the rumors that the chosen Cyberpunk 2077 consoles will be in the next console generation rather than this one.
But hopefully now that a CD Projekt RED developer has actually said something about it, these sorts of rumors will quiet down now. We have no idea of when Cyberpunk 2077 will come out, but we do know that all of the Cyberpunk 2077 consoles will be current generation ones like the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC. So, if you were a fan of the Witcher series, keep on the lookout for CD Projekt RED’s next work coming soon.
