A Customizable Controller Coming for Xbox Scarlett?

The next-generation Xbox Scarlett might get a new customizable controller according to a new patent. Here is what you need to know.

A new patent reveals that Microsoft might be working on a new controller for the upcoming Xbox Scarlett. While the patent is pretty vague about what the new controller will offer, it mentions removable objects. This is something that we have already seen with the Xbox Elite controller and this feature could be taken a step ahead with the controller coming out for the Xbox Scarlett.

This should be a highly customizable Xbox controller. You can check out the patent for the upcoming next-generation Xbox Scarlett controller below:

The removable D-pad and the joystick is something that we have already seen before. The upcoming Xbox Scarlett controller could build on the current Elite controller and introduce something even better. We might be looking at a refresh of the Elite controller here.

There is also something new at the base alongside the headphone jack. We are not sure what this could be but it seems that this could be a connector for mounting the controller to a charging dock or something similar in nature.

Right now the Xbox One controllers do not come with rechargeable batteries out of the box and you need to buy them separately but that could change with the release of the Xbox Scarlett controller.

While we do not know much about the upcoming next-generation consoles, we know that they are in development. Microsoft has already announced this at E3 2018. It makes sense that if Microsoft is working on a new console then Sony is too, keeping in mind that the PS4 Pro is not as powerful as the Xbox One X.

We don’t have a definitive release date for the Xbox Scarlett but reports would have us believe that it should be out before 2020. If that is indeed the case then this customizable Xbox controller could be bundled with the console.

Bethesda has been talking to both Microsoft and Sony regarding the upcoming consoles. We also know that Cyberpunk 2077 will be enhanced for the Xbox One X, so 4K on console for Cyberpunk is on the table for now.
