Counter Strike: Global Offensive Weapons Guide

Any list of multiplayer FPS games cannot be completed without the iconic Counter-Strike. When we talk about FPS, weapons by any mean are an integral part of the game as we will show in this Counter Strike: Global Offensive Weapons guide.

Counter Strike: Global Offensive Weapons

I won’t say that Valve has introduced a lot of changes, but if we consider the attributes like recoil and fire rate, some prominent alterations can be observed.

So, if you are finding it hard to select the best weapons based on the tweaked gameplay, the following overview of each weapon will give you some idea that which weapon will suite you the most.

Assault Rifles

Assault Rifles are the most common weapons used due to the diverse application. Many players prefer them as they can be effective in medium to long range combat. $2000 is the minimum cash you need to spend to buy an assault rifle. You can choose one from the following:

Galil AR
Being a terrorist, this may well be the first assault rifle you buy as it’s the cheapest one. The weapon essentially has the same attributes as that of FAMAS (anti-terrorist counter part) except the burst fire functionality and is relatively cheaper. If you have a firm aim, you can stick to this weapon, at least for a couple of rounds.

Stats
Cost: 1800
Ammo: 35/90
Penetration: 200
Kill Award: $300 (Competitive), $150 (Casual)

FAMAS
This counter-terrorist weapon is the counter of Galil AR. It does have burst fire alteration, which is useful for long-range shooting. The lower clip, however, has a lesser number of bullets inside.

Stats
Cost: 2050
Ammo: 25/90
Penetration: 200%
Kill Award: $300 (Competitive), $150 (Casual)

Ak-47
I don’t think that this weapon needs any introduction. Easily, the most apparent weapon in the shooting genre. In Counter Strike, the weapon is a counter of Anti-terrorist M4A4 weapon. Ak-47 is known for its damage but its accuracy at long-range and, the recoil can create problems for the user.

Stats
Cost: 2700
Ammo: 30/90
Penetration: x2
Kill Award: $300 (Competitive), $150 (Casual)

M4A4
The weapon does not deal much damage as AK-47 but is more accurate, making it effective at long ranges. Since the damage is low, it’s recommended that you fire in bursts to make sure that you land maximum hits on the target.

Stats
Cost: 3100
Ammo: 30/90
Penetration: x2
Kill Award: $300 (Competitive), $150 (Casual

AUG
Powerful and accurate, the AUG scoped assault rifle compensates for its long reload times with low spread and a high rate of fire.

Stats
Cost: 3300
Ammo: 30/90
Penetration: x2
Kill Award: $300 (Competitive), $150 (Casual)

SG553
The weapon can be a good choice considering the balance between Fire rate, accuracy and movement.

Stats
Cost: $3000
Ammo: 30/90
Penetration: 200%
Kill Award: $300 (Competitive), $150 (Casual)

M4A1-S
With a smaller magazine than its unmuffled counterpart, the silenced M4A1 provides quieter shots with less recoil and better accuracy.

Stats
Cost: $3100
Ammo: 25/75
Penetration: 200%
Kill Award: $300 (Competitive), $150 (Casual)

Sniper Rifles

Unlike Assault rifles, Sniper rifles are specialized for long-range shooting. A bullet or two can take out the enemy, but you need to be sure that you are accurate. Snipers can effectively serve the purpose of guarding any territory from distance.

SSG 08
If you are to be a sniper in the team of 5, you will have to get used to it to pass some early rounds as SSG 08 is the cheapest sniper rifle. Its fire rate and damage can be problematic for you.

Stats
Cost: 1700
Ammo: 10/90
Penetration: 250%
Kill Award: $300 (Competitive), $150 (Casual)

AWP
Arguable the Counter Strike: Global Offensive weapon loved by most snipers – AWP is a bolt-action rifle with a 2.25x and 6x zoom. It has enough firepower to take out the enemy with a single bullet. You just need to deal with its bolt-action and then; you can be a real pain for the opposition.

Stats
Cost: 4750
Ammo: 10/30
Penetration: 250%
Kill Award: $100 (Competitive), $50 (Casual)

SCAR-20/G3SG1
Both of these weapons are available for both the factions. The weapons are actually hybrids of assault and sniper functions; there is a 2x scope and you can also shift between single-fire and semi-automatic modes. Weapon’s accuracy is not that bad so yes, you can stick it if you like the recoil.

Stats
Cost: 5000
Ammo: 20/90
Penetration: 250%
Kill Award: $300 (Competitive), $150 (Casual

Pistols

What will you do if you run out of ammo in your primary weapon during a fire fight? There are two options; either you can go for a knife kill or switch to your pistol. Waiting for the weapon to reload can easily get you killed. And if the enemy is at some distance, the knifing option is also excluded, and you are left with the pistols.

Following pistols can be used in CS: GO.

Glock-18
It’s a starting pistol for the terrorists – which means that you will have to use it no matter what. The accuracy is not really a problem, but the fire damage is disappointing. So, you will have to make sure that you land as many as hits as you can for the kill in one magazine.

Stats
Cost: 200
Ammo: 20/120
Penetration: 100%
Kill Award: $300 (Competitive), $150 (Casual)

USP-S
The Silenced USP Pistol has a detachable silencer that gives shots less recoil while suppressing attention-getting noise. It a starting choice for CT-side.

Stats
Cost: $200
Ammo: 12/24
Penetration: 100%
Kill Award: $300 (Competitive), $150 (Casual)

P2000
P2000 is the starting weapon for counter-terrorists. Practically, the weapon is no different than Glock-18.

Stats
Cost: 200
Ammo: 13/52
Penetration: 100%
Kill Award: $300 (Competitive), $150 (Casual)

Tec-9
You may find its fire rate appealing but the damage, and the accuracy aren’t good enough. The weapon isn’t that expensive so you can give it a shot in the initial rounds.

Stats
Cost: 500
Ammo: 18/90
Penetration: 100%
Kill Award: $300 (Competitive), $150 (Casual)

P250
If Glock-18 and P200 aren’t satisfying due to low fire power, P250 can serve the purpose. Weapon’s accuracy can be a problem but if you are using it in close quarters, a few bullets will be sufficient for a kill.

Stats
Cost: 300
Ammo: 13/52
Penetration: 100%
Kill Award: $300 (Competitive), $150 (Casual)

Five-SeveN
The weapon is better than the initial pistols but the fire power really isn’t good enough.

Stats
Cost: 500
Ammo: 20/100
Penetration: 100%
Kill Award: $300 (Competitive), $150 (Casual)

Dual Berettas
Double pistols seem cool but they are only good in close quarter combat with an average fire power and accuracy.

Stats
Cost: 400
Ammo: 30/120
Penetration: 100%
Kill Award: $300 (Competitive), $150 (Casual)

Desert Eagle
Just like the AK-47 in assault rifles, desert eagle is the most popular pistol used in FPS games. Just try to hit the target and the 7 bullet magazine will be more than enough for a kill. Statistically, it shouldn’t work at long ranges but its damage sometimes, can give you lucky kills.

Stats
Cost: 800
Ammo: 7/35
Penetration: 200%
Kill Award: $300 (Competitive), $150 (Casual)

CZ75-Auto
A fully automatic variant of the CZ75, the CZ75-Auto is another inexpensive choice against armored opponents. But with very little ammo provided, strong trigger discipline is required.

Stats
Cost: $500
Ammo: 12/12
Penetration: 100%
Kill Award: $100 (Competitive), $50 (Casual)

Shotguns

I haven’t seen many people fond of shotguns in Counter-Strike due to range limitations, but if you can learn the use properly, they can be the most fun weapons to use.

Sawed-Off
There is only one principle to use the sawed-off: you need to be dead accurate. The weapon has enough damage that a single accurate shot can take out the enemy.

Stats
Cost: $1100
Ammo: 7/32
Penetration: 100%
Kill Award: $900 (Competitive), $450 (Casual)

Nova
The fire rate and accuracy are similar to that of sawed-off, but the damage is not as impressive. Apart from being cheap, it has no special attribute.

Stats
Cost: $1050
Ammo: 8/32
Penetration: None
Kill Award: $900 (Competitive), $450 (Casual)

Mag-7
It’s a counter-terrorist weapon with an impressive fire power and fire rate. The weapon apparently looks like an SMG but serves the purpose of a shotgun being quite useful in close quarter combat.

Stats
Cost: $1300

Penetration: 100%
Kill Award: $900 (Competitive), $450 (Casual)

XM1014
Just another shotgun but has a better fire rate as compared to the other weapons in the category.

Ammo: 7/32
Penetration: 100%
Kill Award: $900 (Competitive), $450 (Casual)

Light Machine Guns

If you need weapons with plenty of bullets and considerable amount of damage, Light machine guns should be the weapons of choice.

M249
You can use it for long-range shooting, but your movement will be compromised considering the size of the weapon.

Stats
Cost: $5200
Ammo: 100/200
Penetration: 200%
Kill Award: $300 (Competitive), $150 (Casual)

Negev
The weapon has almost similar stats as M249 except that its fire rate is better. If you like LMGs, you can do good with any of these two weapons.

Stats
Cost: $1700
Ammo: 150/200
Penetration: 200%
Kill Award: $300 (Competitive), $150 (Casual)

Sub Machine Guns

These weapons usually suit the run and gun playstyle. Most of them has impressive fire rate which can be effective for short to medium-range shooting.

MP9
The MP9 is a low cost (counter-terrorists) weapon with an impressive fire rate. It hasn’t got much fire power or accuracy so you will have trouble while using it at distance.

Stats
Cost: $1250
Ammo: 30/120
Penetration: 100%
Kill Award: $600 (Competitive), $300 (Casual)

MAC-10
The weapon is available to the terrorists only and is the exact replica of MP9 considering the stats.

Stats
Cost: $1050
Ammo: 30/100
Penetration: 100%
Kill Award: $600 (Competitive), $300 (Casual)

PP-Bizon
If you are looking for better movement rate and more bullets per magazine, PP-Bizon can impress you. You can use it to take out the enemies hiding in the corners.

Stats
Cost: $1400
Ammo: 64/120
Penetration: 100%
Kill Award: $600 (Competitive), $300 (Casual)

MP7
If you prefer fire power over movement then MP7 can be a weapon of choice on the terrorist side.

Stats
Cost: $1500
Ammo: 320
Penetration: 100%
Kill Award: $600 (Competitive), $300 (Casual)

UMP-45
It’s almost as effective as MP7 except that it’s cheaper and has lesser bullets per magazine.

Stats
Cost: $1200
Ammo: 25/100
Penetration: 100%
Kill Award: $600 (Competitive), $300 (Casual)

P90
