Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy has launched for Nintendo Switch and the technical analysis of the game reveals that developers have done a great job porting the game on Switch. However, on the resolution side of things, the results are below expectations as the game runs at native 720p in docked mode and 480p in handheld mode.

DigitalFoundry took the opportunity to do an in-depth analysis of Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy on Switch, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. While the game runs at 720p in docked mode and 480p(853×480) in handheld mode but, the game manages to hold 30 FPS with the game rarely dropping below that.

As for the Xbox One X, the game runs at native 4K (3840×2160) at 30 FPS and 2560×1440 on PS4 Pro at 30 FPS.

Speaking of the game, Naughty Dog’s references have been removed in the game. These easter eggs included Naughty Dog stickers, Nathan Drake’s picture and more.

These easter eggs were present in the PS4 version of the game, however, for the PC, Xbox One and Switch versions of the game these references and easter eggs have been removed.

The reason why these references might have been removed is that Sony owns Naughty Dog and rights to Uncharted series and hence these easter eggs and references have been removed.

Furthermore, a report has been making rounds on the internet suggesting that there will be a new Crash Bandicoot title in 2019.

The report comes from Licensing manager for GB eye, Max Arguile, who revealed that “There will be another game in 2019” and Activision has a five-year plan for the Crash Bandicoot franchise.

This falls in line with the previous statement from Activision that it doesn’t intend to stop here and intends to remaster more of its older titles for the current generation.

This is a strategy that clearly has our attention, and while there are no new announcements today, I think you can be confident there will be more activity like this in the future with more great IP. The other opportunity beyond remasters is to look at some of our classic IP and ask whether or not it can be reborn on a new platform, like what we’re doing with Skylanders on mobile. Our IP library is an asset that, when done right, can be very powerful.

Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy is the remaster of the original Crash Bandicoot titles developed by Vicarious Visions for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
