Nintendo recently announced the release of a “New Way to Play” where it introduced a new building concept for kids and who are kids at heart. Many would be thinking what this new concept is all about. Named the Nintendo Labo, it reminds us of the classic building blocks to create a house or a structure.
Nintendo Labo basically created a cardboard kit and with this kit, you can create objects as described in the instructions. Some of the objects you can craft are 13-key piano, fishing pole, or a motorbike and then use your Nintendo Switch console to power them up. This will allow the kids to be creative while playing on Nintendo Switch.
The way things are going for Nintendo, people are interestingly trolling them with memes.
Nintendo Labo Kits
Nintendo Labo will release on April 20, 2018; it will allow users to customize their Nintendo Switch experience with a new type of DYI cardboard items. Nintendo has introduced two editions for Labo – The Variety Kit which will cost you $69.99 and The Robot Kit will cost $79.99.
These toy cons can take a lot of time to build. A single toy con can take from 2 minutes or up to 2 hours depending on the complexity. Make sure you follow the instructions correctly so that you can place the Switch at the correct location. Connecting the “Joy con” is also very important that will allow you control everything happening in-game.

Toy Cons – The Variety kit
The variety kit allows creating 5 different toy cons. The kit is capable of making 2 RC cars, a Fishing Rod, House, Motorbike, and Piano. It is all up to your creativity and playstyle. The entire point of the ToyCon kit and the Nintendo Labo overall is to boost creativity in kids.
But that doesn’t exempt those who are kids at heart from enjoying it.
The Toy-Con Fishing Rod
Following the instructions, you will be able to interact with the Nintendo Switch using the Fishing Rod. In the rod, you’ll see rotating wheel that will attach to Switch’s panel. The wheel rotation will provide assistance in fish catching. “Catch one of much exotic fish shown swimming on the Nintendo Switch screen by casting your Fishing Rod and unwinding the reel to lower the hook.” Once you feel the vibration of the Joy Con, you should tug the Fishing Rod towards your direction.
Toy-Con RC Car
Toy Con RC car, when created, requires players to insert two Joy Con “Left and Right” inside the cardboard. These Joy Con will enable you to control the cars and their movement to your desire.” The HD Rumble feature in the Joy-Con controllers will cause vibrations that move the car in the direction you choose. Materials to construct two RC Cars are included.”
“By inserting various assembled blocks into openings in the sides and bottom of the House, you can interact with, play games with and feed a cute creature on the front-facing Nintendo Switch screen.” IR Motion camera detects different shapes block on the Right Joy Con injected on top of the House.
“Insert each Joy-Con into an assembled set of handlebars to drive a motorbike on the Nintendo Switch screen. Pressing the ignition button starts the engine while twisting the right handle activates the throttle.” The handle will allow you to go where you desire.
The Piano is not that easy to make, “inserting the Nintendo Switch console and Joy-Con, you can experiment with your own musical creations by pressing different keys. You can even insert different assembled knobs to create new sound effects and tones!”.

The Robot Kit
The Robot Kit is the second kit available to the Switch users. This kit will allow players to “build an interactive robot suit with a visor, backpack, and straps for your hands and feet.” The Robot will be much more gameplay-based. All in-game action will be performed by the player’s Robot Kit.
The Robot Kit is more involved with the players compared to The Variety Kit. The Robot Kit also costs more $79.99. FYI, you can also pick up a “Customization Set” for an extra $10. The sole purpose of this custom set is to repair the damaged cardboards. Cardboards cannot sustain much so spending this $10 seems to be worth it.

Nintendo Labo’s both kits require cardboard pieces to build different devices. These games will interact with your real life creation. These kits are very good but they require Nintendo Switch to use these kits, so having a Nintendo Switch is a must. Customization Kit is also optional which includes Stencils, Decorative Tape, and Stickers.
Nintendo Lab will release on April 20, 2018, exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
