It feels like that Bound by Flame is just another RPG having some concepts that aren’t totally new to us.
However, that’s only my point of view and there will be people out there who will find the game just fine. And since there are few RPGs out there, for the time being, Bound by Flame just got the right release window.
The good thing is that the game got released on PC too along with the other platforms.
RPG lovers must have been itching to try this one out but like many other games, there can be some issues (bugs, crashes, error) that can spoil the fun for you.
I am not saying that the game is full of issues, but it does have its fair share of problems. Some of these issues can be fixed by simple workarounds while others are being looked upon by the developer so that permanent fixes can be rolled out in the future.
In the meanwhile, you can browse through the following troubleshooting listing and find the possible relevant fixes.
#1 Bound by Flame Crashes on Startup
If your game is being crashed on the startup without any error message, try starting it in the windowed mode. You can do this by editing the config file which can be found in My Documents/Bound By Flame/.
Open the file, and set the value of windowed mode to 1. If that doesn’t work, make sure that the game is installed in the default steam directory.
#2 Bound by Flame Crashes on Video Settings
If you are experiencing a crash during video settings or just after the game starts, try deleting graphicconfig.txt and default.profile in Documents\Bound By Flame. This will reset the settings and the game might not crash after that.
#3 Bound by Flame Mouse Side Buttons not Working
By default, the game might not support side buttons of your mouse. In that case, you will have to make a new profile and config the buttons accordingly.
#4 Bound be Flame Does Not Launch
There is a chance that after installation, your game won’t start.
If that’s the case, make sure that your game is not installed in the external hard drive. Install it in the default Steam directory and you will be fine.
#5 Bound be Flame Failed to Create the Direct3D Rendering Device
If you are getting this error (specially when changing resolution), you should try deleting graphicconfig.txt and default.profile in Documents\Bound By Flame. This will resolve the issue for you. Also make sure that your GPU drivers are up to date.
#6 Bound by Flame Crash with a Splash Screen
If none of the above-mentioned fixes/workarounds work for you, verify the integrity of your game files. It will download the missing files and fix the issue.
#7 Bound by Flame – How to Remove 60 FPS Cap
If your FPS are not getting higher than 60 and you are sure that your system is capable of getting more, try deactivating V-sync from config file (graphicconfig.txt in Documents\Bound By Flame).
#8 Bound by Flame Performance Issues
There are a few things you can try to make up for the weird performance issues:
- Make sure that you are using the latest version of GPU drivers.
- Try quitting any third party programs running in the backgrounds like FRAPS etc.
- If your are using Crossfire/SLI, disable it to have optimum performance.
#9 Bound by Flame Controller Issue
If your controller is not working, try making sure that you don’t have any other USB device (another controller or joystick) connected. You can also try disconnecting and connecting it again to fix the issue.
#10 Bound by Flame Character/Slider Moving on its Own
This problem is also related to the controller. So if you have any connected to your PC, unplug it and the problem will go away.
If you come across any other issues, comment and we will help you out!
