The main person in charge of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has recognized that the ArtPlay team did not expect that their fantastic metroidvania action adventure could suffer such a bad technical performance on Nintendo Switch.
Koji Igarashi recalls in an interview with Game Informer that they will continue working hard to correct these problems.
Although we were aware of the technical limitations of the hardware, we did not expect it to perform so badly at launch. Unfortunately, several problems we had not expected arose. But with the support of WayForward, authors among others from the Shantae series, these problems are being solved, and we work hard to optimize the Nintendo Switch version.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has definitely become one of the most outstanding releases of 2019, reaping a remarkable success in the different platforms on which they have released it.
So the question is clear: now what? Veteran Koji Igarashi, one of the parents of the great Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, has acknowledged that he would like to turn his latest work into a new success series, although he is open to other plans.
After the launch of Bloodstained we demonstrate that we can create games of the style without having a great company behind. We feel that this game is the first step, so we strongly want to create a series after having put so much effort into giving life to a new creative license.
Creating 2D action games is our greatest virtue, so we are also thinking of creating more games of the style with a different setting. However, we also want to grow as a company and it is not right to continue doing the same kind of game. In the future, we plan to challenge every possible genre.
In the past, Igarashi has already made clear his desire to work on a new Castlevania, something that on the other hand seems impossible right now.
If you have not played it yet, in our review of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Moon we give you a few reasons to enjoy this great Metroidvania adventure.
A great game if you’re a Castlevania fan but a little behind on the rest of the competition.
In Bloodstained we embody Miriam, a young woman who has suffered a curse by a terrible alchemist magician, who is turning her into a kind of crystal being.
Our mission, moving to a Gothic world full of evil creatures, will be to seek the cure of our disease, while improving our character, discovering new weapons and combining elements to give birth to other objects, items and more powerful features.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night feels like a kind of spiritual successor to the masterpiece of Symphony of the Night, offering us great scenarios where we will have to explore and find new entrances, halls and paths.
Miriam will behave like a great fighter, both in the melee and with the handling of the sword, showing very agile movements, such as landslides, jumps and others.
I remind you that Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night released on June 18, 2018 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
