Celebrate Halloween with Guild Wars 2’s “Blood and Madness”

AreaNet is bringing some new content to celebrate Halloween in Guild Wars 2.

“Halloween is drawing near, and Magister Tassi’s instruments are picking up some unusual energy readings. The Mad King isn’t the only one breaking through the barrier between realms—prepare to face the son of Oswald Thorn, Bloody Prince Edrick!”

Thursday, October 31 marks the Halloween this year and just like the rest of the world game developers aren’t lagging in their celebrations. The latest incoming is ArenaNet’s Blood and Madness, the upcoming Halloween themed update of Guild Wars 2.

They are setting the tone for you to brace the “frightful new events and challenges (that) await players as they confront the Bloody Prince and his growing, evil influence.”

It was announced yesterday that Blood and Madness will arrive on October 15 and bring you new events, features and of course new rewards. Events like Mad Realm Doors and Lunatic Inquisition will take you on haunted journeys through labyrinths, eerie doors that will appear across Kryta.

Starting October 18, a World vs. World season will split up the worlds into massive leagues that will compete against each other to get rewarded for personal participation as well as the league’s season long performance.

The full list of events is:

  • Mad Realm Doors: Players can trick-or-treat at haunted doors across Kryta. Beware: Knocking isn’t without risk.
  • Mad King’s Labyrinth: Bloody Prince Edrick has taken over parts of the Mad King’s Labyrinth and is controlling the undead armies in the Mad King’s Realm. The Skeletal Lich, Grand High Viscount of Candy Corn, and the Labyrinthine Horror lie in wait.
  • Mad King’s Clock Tower: Tyria’s most maddening jumping puzzle thrilled players during last year’s Halloween event and returns better than ever. Only the most skillful will navigate the insanity of the Mad King’s Clock Tower to reach the top in time.
  • Lunatic Inquisition: Players can put their PvP skills to the test in the Mad King’s Labyrinth. Play as a villager trying to survive the night or a lunatic courtier intent on destruction. Survival tools and hidden secrets are waiting to be discovered.

The update will also improve targeting and implement a new (optional) presentation of condition damage numbers. After the update has arrived, Traits will start to display numbers and tooltips will tell you the traits affecting your skills. Other than that, existing skills and traits have been given a balance pass.

If you complete the Blood and Madness Meta achievement will get you a Mini Candy Dorn Elemental, and Candy Corn if you follow the storyline there on. You will be able to trade the Candy Corn for Halloween Special items and other crafting items. A Mask of the Knight will be given to those who take part in “The Mad King Says” and excel.

Those who are too eager to get a glimpse of what is in store come Halloween can take a sneak peak at it through their official Twitch channel on October 14 at 3pm EDT.
