Black Widow Movie Setting Revealed, Could Feature the Winter Soldier – Report

Following a few months of silence since the last time there was word about the upcoming Black Widow movie, new details have arrived to claim about the potential setting and cast.

According to a new report from That Hashtag Show earlier today, the standalone project will be a prequel to almost all of the events that have taken place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) to date.

The setting will find Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) living inside the United States about fifteen years after the fall of the Soviet Union. This will place her origin story before Iron Man (2008) as well as Iron Man 2 (2010) where she was introduced for the first time.

In addition, the upcoming Black Widow movie could possibly feature James Buchanan “Bucky” Barnes, also known as the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) in a major capacity. This coincides with the actor recently exclaiming excitement about reprising his role alongside the actress once again.

While there is still no confirmation on the director, Brad Winderbaum (Thor: Ragnarok) is said to be attached as an executive producer. He will join Victoria Alonso (Ant-Man) and Louis D’Esposito (Guardians of the Galaxy) in the same ranks.

It was reported earlier this year that the upcoming Black Widow movie could possibly make Johansson the most paid actress in Hollywood. The deal that convinced her to reprise her role as the deadly Russian sleeper agent is said to be worth about $25 million. There will also be sizable bonuses on the basis of exceptional performance in the box office. This will be about $6 million extra, provided that the total earnings exceed $900 million worldwide.

Considering that the MCU has enjoyed overwhelming success in the last decade, is is unlikely that the movie will fail to reach the aforementioned threshold.

The Black Widow movie remains without a release date.
