Just days ago sales figures for Bayonetta 2 during its first week in Japan came in.
The Wii U exclusive title sold just above 38,000 copies and if we compare these numbers to the sales of the original Bayonetta which sold relatively well, you might say that the game is off to a slow start.
That being said, Bayonetta 2 has sold 67.29% of its stock since it came out so, if we look at the figures carefully you will see that things are not as bad as they look and they might even be according to Nintendo’s expectations.
Instead of comparing the game to Bayonetta 1, if we look at the sales of another Nintendo exclusive Mario Kart 8, it was reported that the game sold 325,829 copies in its first day on sale which is around 50 to 55 percent of its stock.
Now if we come back to Bayonetta 2, it sold 67.29% of its initial stock in 2 days not including digital downloads. Keep in mind that the game came out on Sept 20 so it only spent 2 days in the Japanese market before these figures came out. 67.29% stock in 2 days seems good enough. What do you think?
Bayonetta 2 is a Wii U exclusive and is now available in Japan. While a North American release is planned for October 24.
