Assassin’s Creed: Unity Takes Franchise To A Whole New Level

Ubisoft is completely revamping everything in the upcoming Assassin's Creed: Unity with new co-op mode, new settings, stealth and much more.

Assassin’s Creed: Unity was just shown at E3 last night and many people have been claiming that it was the highlight of the whole event.

The demos that were shown at the press conferences include co-op story driven missions and a single player mode, where you can also get help from your friends in bigger fights.

Something that managed to grab everyone’s attention was the game’s setting; the year is 1793, at the dawn of the French Revolution and people are waging war against the corrupt authorities of the country.

The location where the game plays out is Paris and Ubisoft has claimed that the city is going to be larger than all the islands of AC4 Black Flag combined, making it the largest of all the games.

Just to give you an idea of the depth of city, the size of the Notre Dame cathedral that is shown in the game is going to be 1:1 in proportion to the real thing.

One more improvement coming to the Assassin’s Creed universe will be in terms of parkour. As you would have noticed from the gameplay, the assassin is way more agile in his movements and jumping. One pretty interesting addition was how the character drops down step by step alongside the buildings while the previous game only had Leap of Faith that ended directly in a haystack.

Assassin’s Creed: Unity will also be focusing on making Arno, our new character, the perfect assassin. He will focus more on stealth rather than going for sword fights; head-on combat will be harder this time.

Here’s what the developer had to say on this matter:

We actually made combat a little bit harder than before, The Assassin is still a very, very strong fighter. He can easily dispatch an individual or a couple of guards or enemies. But we also wanted the game to be a little bit more realistic.

The mission structure has been completely overhauled as you will now have the option of completing the same mission with different approaches. You can either go all-in to battle against every single enemy or you can avoid everyone by using the stealth skills of Arno.

In addition to that, the new French assassin will be completely customizable and can be built into a better fighter if you decide to spend your hard earned skill points in the right areas.

One thing that will set the game apart from its predecessors is the exclusion of a competitive multiplayer. For the first time since Brotherhood in 2010, the game will ditch it in favor of co-op which, for some of us might actually be a good tiding.

One one hand this will give the game developers more time to develop a better co-op but on the other, many of us will miss the competitive MP that everyone accepted as unique.

Finally, there will be a present day timeline as you would expect but how it will play out is yet to be seen.

Assassin’s Creed Unity is scheduled to release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on October 28.
