Assassin’s Creed Rogue HD Rumor Starts Spreading After Italian Retail Listing

An Italian retail listing has apparently started a rumor that an Assassin’s Creed Rogue HD collection will be releasing soon for the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC, after that game had previously only been available on last-generation consoles with no word of a modern port. That seems to be ending, however.

Assassin’s Creed Rogue was an Assassin’s Creed sort of side-game that released around the same time as Assassin’s Creed: Unity. Rogue, however, tells the story of an Assassin traitor named Shay Cormac, who defects to the Templar Order and begins hunting down Assassins in the British colonies of America and sailing around the Atlantic.

The game tied into a number of different Assassin’s Creed games around it, being the sequel to Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, the prequel to Assassin’s Creed 3, and another prequel to Assassin’s Creed: Unity, as Shay had a hand in the fates of many of those games’s characters, such as Connor’s mentor Achilles, Arno Dorian, and Haytham Kenway.

Despite how many different Assassin’s Creed games the title ties into, there hasn’t been any real news of an Assassin’s Creed Rogue HD collection or remastering like the Ezio Trilogy ever since the Xbox One and Playstation 4 came out. Not to mention that Assassin’s Creed Origins only recently came out, meaning that Ubisoft has been working on that, rather than on updating a game with modern graphics.

Whether we’ll get a Rogue remastering in the future is also likely dependent on whether or not Ubisoft wants to keep the Assassin’s Creed series fro being a yearly one again. Origins was the first Assassin’s Creed game in two years, after previous games had been coming out every year.

Whether these Italian retail listings turn out to be true or not remains to be seen, but hopefully we will be getting an Assassin’s Creed Rogue HD collection at some point in the future, rather than just an Xbox backwards-compatible version.
