Assassin’s Creed Pirates to Take Naval Battles to Android and iOS This December

Assassin's Creed Pirates announced by Ubisoft for Mobile devices. The game will primarily focus on Naval Battles.

Avast, Ubisoft has announced Assassin’s Creed Pirates as the latest title in the franchise to set sails for mobile devices in the near future. It will become available for a price of €4.69 on the Appstore, Google Play and Amazon on December 5, 2013.

Gameplay in Assassin’s Creed Pirates will follow mostly that of one major element present in its big brother Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Content derived from the main branch will include lots of naval battles, where players control their ship in the seas of the Caribbean.

Bouncing through the waves, pirates will need to fend off attackers and lay waste to weaker units roaming around. Ships coil around each other and fire off a series of different cannon ammo, to try and sink their opponent.

Other elements in the game will include tying to manage a crew to work the deck. In a tavern, commanders can hire a set of different men, which will grant a number of perks in combat. Ships can also differ in stature, which will affect their statistics in how fast they are, how many cannons they hold and so on.

Furthermore, the game will apply weather elements, which builds out even more ways for players to react to circumstances. Rain and heavy winds will make waves a lot harder to navigate.

Assassin’s Creed Pirates is made by Ubisoft Paris and features fully modeled 3D gameplay with quite a bit of detail worked in. Ships are recognizable up to their mastheads, with shadows reacting to the ship’s position and rain droplets bouncing off the screen.
