Assassin’s Creed Origins Might Be Another Victim Of Microtransactions

Forza Motorsport 7 has been facing quite a backlash for its Loot Boxes system and it seems that the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Origins might feature microtransactions or something similar to loot boxes. However, Assassin’s Creed Unity also featured microtransactions but, Ubisoft is yet to harm any Assassin’s Creed title with microtransactions.

While Ubisoft has not officially confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Origins will feature microtransactions but, there is a chance that these will be included in the game. The clue comes from a recent preview done by Youtuber, Centerstrain01.

You will notice in the video below at approximately 2:30 mark, that players can purchase loot boxes called “Heka chest”. However, in the preview build players can only buy them with in-game currency but, there is a chance that these chests can be bought with real-world money in the retail version.

However, take it as a grain of salt until Ubisoft officially announces it or the game launches and we see it for ourselves.

In related news, game director Ashraf Ismail has revealed that every stat in the game matters whether its speed, distance, defense, or any other stat, all will matter in combat as the game offers different kinds and grades of weaponry and attributes that suite to every player’s play style.

Another one of the changes made to Assassin’s Creed origins by Ubisoft is to the loot system which the studio describes as a smart loot system. According to devs, it is not completely random and players can go out and hunt for the desired equipment.

Assassin’s Creed Origins will be reinventing the series with new features and will also bring back some features from previous Assassin’s Creed titles which also include Tombs. Tombs are returning in Assassin’s Creed Origins and this time the tombs will be based on real-world tombs.

Assassin’s Creed Origins is an upcoming action RPG in development at Ubisoft and is scheduled to launch on October 27, 2017, for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
