Assassin’s Creed Origins Facial Animations Still Under Works, Final Product to be Much Better

Assassin’s Creed Origins facial animations were a matter of concern for the community as soon as proper gameplay videos came out. Characters lacked true emotion and reaction to what’s going on around them. Since EA’s Mass Effect Andromeda messed up with its facial animations, the community is vigilant in such matters.

Thankfully, Ubisoft has cleared the air at PAX, saying that facial animations are still being worked on. According to the French publisher, the development on the game’s facial animations is still underway. We can expect the final product to be in a much better shape.

Speaking to Looper at PAX, Ashraf Ismail, the director of the game, stated that players shouldn’t worry about the facial animations, players do not understand “what’s behind the curtain in terms of production and how that works.” He assured that Assassin’s Creed Origins facial animations are a top priority.

It was much more important for us to have the game living and playable, rather than just holding things back because something like the cinematics or the animations weren’t ready. And I think this is also clear from E3, and how we have responded to the feedback since, and how we iterated on it. And that’s the state of the project, all the tools and content is there, and iterating on it is very fast, very efficient, and we are constantly doing that, we are tuning and polishing the game.

New gameplay videos actually show slight improvements in facial animations. However, there is still some way to go before the title is ready for release.

Assassin’s Creed Origins is releasing on Xbox One, Xbox One X, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, and PC this October.
