Your Anthem Progress Will Carry Over to PS5 and Next Xbox

BioWare's head of live service says that you will be able to transfer Anthem save files to the next-gen consoles like PS5 and Next Xbox.

BioWare’s Anthem is yet to release but surprisingly we already know that your save files will carry over to next-gen consoles like the PS5 from Sony and next Xbox from Microsoft. Developers of the game say that they will support it for 10 years so many wondered if they will be able to play it from where they left off on the next-gen consoles or not.

Company’s Head of Live Service Chad Robertson has now confirmed that all of your Anthem save files will be transferred to the next-gen consoles if they ever arrive. In response to a worried fan, Roberston said “always”.

There wasn’t any mention of PS5 or Next Xbox but we believe them to be systems he’s talking about since the game is scheduled to release on PS4 and Xbox One this month.

Just like the transition of early titles from PS3 to PS4, same can happen with the early titles of PS5. Also, EA’s Anthem is releasing at the end of the eighth gen console cycle so this all makes sense.

Despite BioWare saying to support it for years, it totally depends on the success of Anthem game when it arrives. The private demo of the game received a mix response due to bugs, server issues, errors and its similarities with Destiny 2. With the previous failure of Mass Effect Andromeda, there are a lot of questions to be still answered so we shouldn’t worry about the future as of now.

If everything goes smoothly and the game manages to build a loyal fan/player base then Anthem’s launch on future gen consoles is pretty much guaranteed. The game can also turn out to be a simple port on the next-gen consoles. With the recent rumors of PS5 supporting backward compatibility, it’s possible.

Anthem game release date is confirmed for February 22, 2019, on Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 4.
