If you are facing any error, crash or bug related to Anthem, we have possible fixes to resolve those issues.

Anthem has finally made it to final release on PC and consoles. The PC version of Anthem is facing errors and issues like no matchmaking, server not found, Error Retrieving Live Service Data, performance issues and more.

Here I have compiled a list of error and issues that gamers are experiencing. Not only that, I have also listed fixes and workarounds for these issues so that you can play the game.

Anthem No Matchmaking, Black Screen and Fixes

Anthem is the latest game from Bioware that ditches the usual singleplayer mechanics as Bioware opted for developing a live-service game. With that, Anthem is a very different game compared to Bioware’s previous work like Mass Effect and Dragon Age series.

However, Anthem is far from perfect and is facing issues like no matchmaking, black screen, crashes and more. The following are the list of errors along with their fixes and workarounds.

No Servers Found, Matchmaking Fix

Being a live service game, it’s annoying when a game doesn’t connect to servers. Anthem is also facing matchmaking and no servers found the issue and the fix is simple.

Open Origin client and go to your library and right-click on Anthem and select Update game. It won’t do much but will update the game stats. Now Start the game and Anthem matchmaking problems will be fixed.

Error Retrieving Anthem Live Service Data Fix

This another Anthem error that players are experiencing. To fix this problem, open Origin client and go to your library and right-click on Anthem and select “Game properties”.

Go to advanced launch options and change the game language. The game will update and after that, start the game and the Error Retrieving Anthem Live Service Data will be fixed.

Game Not Launching, Crash on Startup Fix

Players are reporting that as they start the game nothing happens and the Anthem won’t launch. For those using old AMD CPUs, the issue is the mandatory SSE4.1 support. This is specifically occurring for AMD Phenom II CPUs.

The thing is, if your CPU doesn’t support the SSE4.1 instruction set then there is nothing you can do but upgrade your system. Otherwise, wait for Bioware to fix this by removing the mandatory SSE4.1 support.

If you have the CPU with SSE4.1 support then uninstall all of the “Microsoft Visual C++” and reinstall them.

Those who are facing crash on Startup issue, the problem might be your anti-virus ow Windows Defender. Sometimes anti-virus software detects the game’s exe file as a trojan virus. You can either disable your anti-virus software or make an exception for the game’s exe in the anti-virus.

Crash Fix

There can be many reasons for a game to crash on a PC. If you have overclocked your GPU then turn down the clock speed back to its default ones as the overclock might be causing the crash.

If you have a factory overclocked GPU then turn down its clock speed using MSI AfterBurner and the crash issue should be fixed.

Game Not Launching On Primary Display, Multi-monitor Fix

Players are reporting that when they start the game in their multi-monitor setup the game launches on the secondary monitor, not on the primary display.

There are a couple of fixes, first right click on Anthem’s exe file and click on “Run as Admin”, this will resolve the issue. Make sure you are using the latest GPU drivers and disable 3rd-party monitoring software like MSI Afterburner.

If this doesn’t work for you then go to the video settings and select “Fullscreen” Then press “ALT+Enter”. The game will go onto the Windowed mode. Now drag the window to your Primary monitor and then change the video setting to whichever option you like and again press “Alt+Enter” and the game should start on the primary monitor from now on.

Black Screen Fix

Anthem is also facing the black screen issue. Players are reporting that they can hear the audio but the screen is black but, the fix for this is simple.

Start the game and when the black screen appears press “Alt + Enter” and the game will go into the Windowed mode and will start to display. Go to the display settings and change the resolution to your monitor’s native resolution and you will be able to play the game in Fullscreen.

Low FPS, Random FPS Drops, Stuttering Fix

Performance is an issue that many PC games suffer and Anthem PC version is no different. Players are experiencing FPS drops, generally low FPS and stuttering. Here are a few things that you can do to improve Anthem PC performance.

First, update your GPU driver to latest versions as they have support for the latest games. Also, make sure there is no process running that is using too much of your HDD or CPU. Kill the process if it is.

For Nvidia users facing performance or stuttering, open Nvidia Control Panel. Select “Manage 3D settings” and then select “Program settings”. Select Anthem from the drop-down list and go through the options.

Set “Power Management Mode” to “Prefer Maximum Performance” and “Texture Filtering Quality” to “High Performance”. Apply these settings and the stuttering should be gone and you might also see a slight FPS boost.

For those with at least Nvidia GTX 10 series GPU, open Nvidia Control Panel. Select “Manage 3D settings” and then select “Program settings”. Select the game and set Vertical Sync to “Fast”. This will potentially give you a significant FPS boost if you have the GPU and CPU to handle it.
