AMD Threadripper 1900X Could Be The “Entry-Level” 8 Core 16 Thread Threadripper Variant

AMD Threadripper is a monster and AMD has just announced the pricing of the 2 major Threadripper CPUs, the AMD Threadripper 1920X And 1950X. While the 1950X is priced at $999, the 1920X is priced at $799. This is very reasonable as compared to the prices of the Intel X series CPUs. Now we are getting word of the AMD Threadripper 1900X, which could be the third Threadripper variant.

While there is very little that we know about the AMD Threadripper 1900X, reports claim that the CPU will have 8 cores and 16 threads. The same as the Ryzen 7 series CPUs. But what this means is that you will be able to hop on the X399 platform at a lower cost. While this is still a rumor, it seems that the upcoming AMD Threadripper 1900X will cost $549.

This is a Threadripper variant, so like the other variants, you can expect to see a TDP of 180W. If you are wondering why you would pay extra for the same amount of cores and threads as the Ryzen 7 series CPUs then the answer is that you are paying more for the X399 platform and the additional features that it has to offer as compared to the mainstream platform.

With the X399 platform, you get 64 PCI Express lanes and support for quad channel memory. we do not know if the little brother will also have 32 MB of L3 cache but it will be great to see this kind of specs on an “entry-level” CPU. We do not have any information regarding the base or boost frequencies of the AMD Threadripper 1900X but more will be revealed in time.

We are still waiting for confirmation regarding the existence of the AMD Threadripper 1900X, so do take this information with a grain of salt. We have also got reports that AMD Threadripper CPUs will come with liquid coolers out of the box. You can also click here to find out more about AMD Threadripper overclocking.
