AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2000 Series Pricing And Specifications

AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2000 series is around the corner and here we have the pricing and specifications of the chips that are coming out. The new packaging is very impressive and AMD is not using the same packaging as the old one. Let’s look into the pricing and the specifications of the different chips included in the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2000 series.

The top of the line Threadripper 2990WX comes with 32 cores and 64 threads, double as compared to what we got last time. The chip will cost 1799 USD. The CPU will be able to boos to 4.2 GHz which is very impressive keeping in mind the number of cores. Plus it is pretty close to the 5 GHz fake Intel CPU that does not exist. Plus that chip only had 28 cores so AMD is offering 4 more cores.

The 2970WX offers 24 cores and 48 threads, which is the highest configuration that Intel has to offer in the upcoming X299 lineup. This chip is $500 cheaper than the top of the line model. This is still a great value if you need higher core counts and the processing power as compared to the competition. WX series processors have a 250W TDP.

2950X and 2920X are the gaming-oriented CPUs for enthusiasts and both these chips will be available for less than $1000. The AMD Threadripper 2950X has 16 cores and 32 threads and will cost you 899 USD. The cheapest of the bunch is the 2920X that comes with 12 cores and 24 threads and will cost you 649 USD. Both these CPUs have a 180W TDP.

From what we have seen of the leaked roadmaps, Intel is only offering 28 core CPUs. Keeping that in mind, AMD is going to have a prominent advantage over team Blue. It will be interesting to see how Intel is going to counter AMD when the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2000 series comes out.

AMD is also powering the upcoming Chinese consoles and gaming PCs using AMD Ryzen and Vega graphics. For more news regarding the matter, stay tuned to SegmentNext.
