AMD Ryzen 7 2700X Overclocked To 6 GHz Across All Cores

AMD Ryzen 7 2700X is the flagship CPU in the Rozen 2000 series and while the CPU was overclocked to 5.8GHz before its release.

AMD Ryzen 7 2700X is the flagship CPU in the Ryzen 2000 series and while the CPU was overclocked to 5.8GHz before its release, however, pro-overclockers have managed to push it a little more by overclocking it to 6 GHz across all cores.

Pro-overclockers, Der8auer and Neo, managed the 6GHz overclock across all cores at ASUS ROG’s Taiwan HQ. The motherboard used to overclock the Ryzen 72700X to 6GHz across all cores was Crosshair VII Hero and the cooling solution used was obviously liquid nitrogen.

The 6 GHz overclock across all 8 cores of AMD Ryzen 7 2700X was tested using various benchmarks. While the clock-speed was not stable across the benchmarks but it shows that the 2700X is the better chip compared to its predecessor. You can check out the full overclock procedure in the video below.

Speaking on the 2700X, the chip was also benchmarked against the Ryen 1700 at 4 GHz clock speed and the results reveal 2700X has 14% performance leap over the Ryzen 1700.

In terms of gaming performance, the AMD Ryzen 7 2700X outperformed 1700 by 10% on average and the biggest leap the 2700X get was 14%. This is due to smart turbo functionality, low memory and cache latency and better Inter-core communication.

While the Ryzen 2000 CPUs and APUs have just launched in the market but AMD has confirmed that it is already working on Zen 5 Micro-Architecture. According to lead Zen architect Mike Clark, he is working on Zen 5 mico-architecture.

AMD has also confirmed that it has pulled some of the members of Zen micro-architecture team to its Radeon Graphics department to give its upcoming GPUs a boost in power and performance.

According to Suzanne Plummer, CVP of the Radeon Technologies Group, AMD is using the process that went into the success of Ryzen CPUs to give its upcoming AMD Radeon GPUs a boost in performance.
