AMD Radeon RX 3080 Performance Equivalent Of RTX 2070 For Just $330, Report

While we wait for AMD to officially reveal the GPU, reports have emerged suggesting that Radeon RX 3080 is a RTX 2070 equivalent for just $330.

AMD recently confirmed the launch of its Navi GPU in Q3 2019 but didn’t reveal any specific model or specs. While we wait for AMD to officially reveal the GPU, reports have emerged suggesting that Radeon RX 3080 is the next Navi GPU.

According to reports, the 7nm AMD Radeon RX 3080 is based on the Nvai 10 GPU and features 8GB of GDDR6 VRAM. However, that isn’t the focus of the rumor.

Reportedly, the AMD Radeon RX 3080 delivers performance equivalent to Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 which is based on the Turing architecture. Not only that, the RX 3080 will cost $330.

Considering that RTX 2070 is a high-end GPU capable of rendering real-time Ray Tracing in video games and costs $599, the $330 price tag for the alleged AMD Radeon RX 3080 seems like a pretty good deal.

Since this is a just a report, take it with a grain of salt. But, if AMD manages to pull it off and also enables real-time Ray Tracing for its Navi GPUs, this could be a game changer.

The reason why it would do that is that Nvidia GeForce RTX GPUs are the only ones in the market capable of rendering Ray Tracing in video games. With AMD taking that advantage away, it’ll be interesting to see how Nvidia will respond to the competition.

Also, Nvidia won’t just be facing competition in the PC market as PlayStation 5 will also support real-time Ray Tracing.

Recently, Sony confirmed PS5 specs and according to Sony, PlayStation 5 will feature a custom 3rd-gen Ryzen CPU with 8-Cores and is based on the 7nm Zen 2 microarchitecture.

As for the GPU, the console features AMD Navi graphics which is capable of rendering real-time Ray Tracing in video games. Not only that, PS5 will also see a huge improvement in audio quality.

Navi GPU isn’t the only thing AMD confirmed for Q3 2019 release. AMD has also confirmed its Ryzen 3000 CPUs for Q3 2019. Meaning we will see the launch of both 7nm AMD CPUs and GPUs between July and September.

Following the announcement, listings for Ryzen 9 3800X, Ryzen 7 3700X, And Ryzen 5 3600X appeared on several online retailers. According to listings, the Ryzen 9 3800X comes with 16 Cores/ 32 threads, 3.90 GHz base clock, and 4.70 GHz of boost clock.

However, specs for the Ryzen 7 3700X are the most interesting one. The listing suggests the CPU features 12 Cores with 4.20 GHz base clock and a staggering 5.0 GHz boost clock.

All of these are just leaks and rumors and it’ll be a good change of pace if we get anything official coming from AMD regarding its Ryzen 3000 CPUs and Navi GPU.
