Exclusive: AMD CEO Lisa Su Sold Almost $1 Million Worth Of AMD Stock in a Preplanned Arrangement

Update 2: The sale was a preplanned arrangement between the company and Lisa Su. The arrangement was made almost a year ago, according to AMD reps speaking with SegmentNext. The title is being adjusted to highlight the fact.

Original Story: AMD CEO Lisa Su seems to have sold almost $1 Million in AMD stocks. While this has not been confirmed by the company something is very fishy about the matter. If you recall, Intel CEO Brian Krzanich sold 54 Million worth of Intel shares and stock options and soon after that, we found out about the Meltdown and Spectre bugs that were affecting Intel CPU performance by up to 30%.

While we have got patches in order to defend against Meltdown and Spectre it seems that something is happening behind the scenes that we do not know about.

We will have to see what AMD has to say about the selling of shares before we can come to a definite conclusion but this is what we have to go on right now.

Update: AMD has contacted us regarding the matter and told us that the sales of shares were pre-arranged. We are still waiting on the official statement from AMD so sit tight. The following is the statement from Drew Prairie, Corporate Communications:

Lisa’s sales were either part of a pre-arranged stock plan that was put in place on February 8, 2017 or pursuant to an irrevocable sell-to-cover plan for her tax liability when shares vest.

AMD CEO Lisa Su recently talked about AMD Ryzen CPUs and the fact that they provide more cores and threads at every price point. The following is what she had to say:

Our goal is to make sure that we provide step-function improvements for our customers. If you look at our Ryzen product line, for example, at every price point we offer more threads, more multithreaded performance.

While this is well and good it should be noted that Intel CEO also had plenty to say in his defense at CES 2018 but that did not distract us from the Meltdown and Spectre issue and I think that is what the general public feels and it is not only me.

I am sure that AMD will soon release a statement to clarify its position.

Let us know what you think about AMD CEO Lisa Su selling about $1 Million worth of AMD stock.
