Alicia Vikander’s IMDb page has been updated with “Tomb Raider 2”, which is set to release sometime in 2021. In addition to this, Tomb Raider 2’s IMDB page was also updated recently and now lists Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft.
It was rumored for a long time that Alicia Vikander will play as Lara Croft once again in the sequel to the 2018 reboot of Tomb Raider. Back in April, it was reported that Vikander is reportedly signing for the upcoming Tomb Raider 2 movie. Now with the recent update by IMDB, it appears that Vikander has already started working on the next film.
This was expected to happen because Alicia Vikander expressed interest in playing Lara once again before the release of the first movie.

Whether you enjoyed Tomb Raider movie or not, a sequel is confirmed to be in works. It was reported in April that MGM and Warner Bros have hired Amy Jump to write the script for Alicia Vikander’s return as Lara Croft.
For those who don’t know, Amy Jump worked with Ben Wheatley on Free Fire, drama starring Brie Larson, Cillian Murphy, and Armie Hammer. Her other credits include movies like Kill List, A Field In England, Sightseers, and High-Rise.
Last year’s Tomb Raider film told the story of Crystal Dynamics’ 2013 game reboot. However, it’s unclear at this point whether the sequel will tell the story of Crystal Dynamics’ 2015 follow up called Rise of the Tomb Raider or not.
It’s surprising to know that Tomb Raider movie is getting a sequel because it failed to find critical success. Tomb Raider directed by Roar Uthaug grossed $274 million worldwide.
As for video games, it’s unclear at this point where Tomb Raider series is headed next. The Tomb Raider trilogy that started in 2013 finally came to end last year with the release of Shadow of the Tomb Raider. The producer of Shadow of the Tomb Raider “Jonathan Dahan” recently told USGamer that he expects to see more Tomb Raider games.
I’d be extremely surprised if we didn’t see more of it. We’re not able to say anything about what’s happening next, but I’d be very surprised if we didn’t hear more about the franchise, said Dahan.
It’s safe to assume that we will see a new Tomb Raider video game sometime in the future. We can expect to see next Tomb Raider video game on next-generation consoles like Sony PlayStation 5 and Microsoft Xbox Scarlett.
Until that happens, players can play Shadow of The Tomb Raider published by Square Enix on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
