Alan Wake 2 Still Possible if Done Right, Says Remedy Boss

Remedy Entertainment boss Sam Lake recently said that Alan Wake 2 is still possible but it needs to be done right. For those who don’t know, Sam Lake is the creator of original Alan Wake (released in 2010).

During an upcoming episode of IGN Unfiltered, Remedy Entertainment’s Sam Lake said that he still wants to make Alan Wake 2 but the bar is higher now than it was when the first game released.

I want to make it. It’s a curious thing,” Lake said. “At this point, so much time has passed. I feel that the bar is higher in some ways. It needs to be done right if it’s ever done. Everything needs to click into place, which is really hard to make it happen. So many things, for these big games to be greenlit, need to be aligned. But I’m hoping that someday….

It’s clear that Remedy is interested in making Alan Wake 2, especially given the fact that it has now acquired the publishing rights to the Alan Wake franchise from Microsoft. We can expect the sequel of Alan Wake to arrive sometime in the future and most likely on next-gen consoles like Sony’s PlayStation 5, Microsoft’s Xbox Scarlett and on PC.

Back in April, it was revealed that the game was in development two years ago. This information was shared by Thomas Puha, who’s the director of communications at Remedy Games.

Thomas Puha said that “time, money, and resources” are the things that are stopping Remedy from making another Alan Wake game. Keeping that in mind, it’s possible that Remedy will start working on Alan Wake 2 after the release of Control game. Control is scheduled to release on August 27, 2019, for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows.

Now that the Alan Wake publishing rights are back in Remedy’s hand, it’s safe to assume that the game will arrive at some point in the future. Another good news is that new Alan Wake will most likely also arrive on PlayStation unlike Alan Wake’s American Nightmare and Alan Wake 1 which arrived only on PC and Xbox.

Do note that Alan Wake wasn’t a huge success and maybe that’s why we never saw a sequel. However, Alan Wake is still remembered as one of Remedy’s best projects by its hardcore fanbase.

We will make sure to let you know first whenever Remedy Entertainment decides to talk more about Alan Wake 2 so stay tuned.
