In comparison to winter, which featured a rather bleak and underwhelming lineup, spring will take it up several notches with the return of some of the most critically acclaimed anime shows in recent years.
These are what fans have been patiently waiting for quite sometime now and while not all of them are direct sequels, one can hardly dampen the exuding excitement from knowing about an upcoming action-packed season.
Here are six returning anime shows that you should be getting ready to delve into this spring. The accompanying descriptions may or may not include possible spoilers for past seasons.
Take note that these are not the only ones, and neither are they arranged in any specific order. In addition, this list does not cover brand new anime shows that are also part of the slate.

Boku no Hero Academia (Season 3)
The training regimen for Izuku Midoriya and the rest of the superheroes will advance into an intense summer camp that is designed to push their “quirks” to new heights.
The new challenges will be unlike any the students at U.A. High School have faced before and with the supervillains plotting to hit back, the summer camp will undoubtedly end up testing their survival skills as well.
The third season will feature twenty-five episodes in total, with the first one scheduled to air on all associated networks from April 7, 2018.
Shokugeki no Souma (Season 4)
Following a surprising coup by the “Elite Ten Council” to run and manage the Totsuki Culinary Academy under new leadership, the culinary challenge to become the top chef has just become harder for Yukihira Souma and his friends.
The decision to oppose the tyranny imposed by “Central” will not go unpunished. Those who wish to remain in classes must now hope to defeat the unparalleled and hand-picked chefs themselves. Those who fail in this endeavor will be forced to vacate the premises.
Take note that “Shokugeki no Souma: San no Sara – Toutsuki Ressha-hen” is actually a continuation — second part — of the recent, third season. However, it can still be taken as the fourth season in entirety.
There is no word on how many episodes will be featured but based on the last season, there should be at least twelve. The first one is scheduled to air on all associated networks from April 9, 2018.
Tokyo Ghoul (Season 3)
The past two seasons have seen governmental bodies at work trying to erase the ghouls and burn down their hideouts. Their efforts have mostly gone down the drain and pressed for time, they have found a new weapon of their own — transforming their own people into ghouls.
Ken Kaneki, following his damaging encounter with Kisho Arima, has lost most of his memories and now goes by the name of Haise Sasaki. He has also ended up joining the CCG (Commission of Counter Ghoul) and leads his own Quinx Squad that features half-human half-ghoul members.
In a bizarre twist of fate, Kaneki will be unknowingly hunting his own kin instead of protecting them. However, past memories will continue to claw at his mind. He will either end up going mad or uncover the truth about his amnesia.
There is no word on how many episodes will be featured in “Tokyo Ghoul:re” but based on the last season, there should be at least twelve. The first one is scheduled to air on all associated networks from April 3, 2018.
Full Metal Panic! (Season 4)
There is little known about the upcoming season except that it will be a direct sequel and the action-packed pacing will be unleashed from the very beginning. It will, though, follow the original works very closely. Hence, the rather painstaking job of protecting Chidori Kaname will continue to be undertaken by Sagara Sousuke in yet another take.
There is no word on how many episodes will be featured in “Full Metal Panic! Invisible Victory” but the first one is scheduled to air on all associated networks from April 13, 2018.
Souten no Ken (Season 2)
Following the defeat of the Demon Kaioh, Kasumi Kenshiro may have possibly ran out of worthy opponents to bust open. The upcoming new season will also be a prequel and take place before the events of “Hokuto no Ken” but still center on the 62nd successor to Hokuto Shinken.
Kenshiro will be trying to escape his past life by refusing to practice martial arts anymore and filling in as a professor at a small college in Tokyo. However, the death of his lover and former brothers will force Kenshiro to take the warpath once again and seek vengeance in blood.
There is no word on how many episodes will be featured in “Souten no Ken Re:Genesis” but based on the last season, there should be at least twenty-two. The first one is scheduled to air on all associated networks from April 10, 2018.
Steins;Gate 0
When time travel becomes possible, the current known reality ceases to hold any meaning. While Rintarou Okabe managed to save Makise Kurisu from death in the original storyline, the new arc will take place in an alternate timeline where the eccentric scientist failed to do so.
He will attempt to forget the painful past, filled with regret and hopelessness. The dark path will eventually lead him to abandon science and his mad experiments until an acquaintance of Kurisu pulls him back in.
Okabe will be tasked with building and testing an advanced artificial lifeform that is capable of storing human memories. Unfortunately, this simulation process to bring back Kurisu will result in some new unexpected anguish and tragedies.
The sidestory will feature twenty-three episodes in total, with the first one scheduled to air on all associated networks from April 12, 2018.
