Over 300 Cyberpunk 2077 Developers Are Working On The Game Together

Over 300 Cyberpunk 2077 developers are working on CD Projekt RED's newest game, hard at work now that the Witcher series is essentially wrapped up.

According to a recent statement by CD Projekt RED, over 300 Cyberpunk 2077 developers are all working on the game together, showing that the studio’s working full-tilt on the game to be true. Cyberpunk 2077 was announced several years ago, and now that the Witcher games are finished work can begin in earnest.

Cyberpunk 2077 is based off of the tabletop role playing game Cyberpunk 2020. Players will find themselves in the middle of a futuristic metropolis known as Night City, where various pursuits like genetic and cybernetic modifications help characters gain new abilities.

With a number of nonstandard classes such as journalist, rockstar, mercenary, and more, the Cyberpunk 2077 developers working on the game have a lot of work cut out for them. Though Cyberpunk 2020’s creator Mike Pondsmith is helping CD Projekt RED by serving as a consultant in the game, it’s quite the detailed setting.

Fortunately, CD Projekt RED is no stranger to settings with a great deal of information and worldbuilding involved. Their most famous product, the Witcher trilogy, was able to craft a realistic world filled with politics and various crises that still felt alive. Hopefully the studio can help Night City do the same thing.

Pondsmith has already praised Cyberpunk 2077 and has said that he’s dedicated to making the game feel as authentic as possible, so hopefully with both the work of the creator and the work of the Cyberpunk 2077 developers, the game will look even more detailed and feel even more alive than the Witcher games did.

There’s no indication of when Cyberpunk 2077 will actually come out, and we don’t know what platforms it will be coming out on either. However, CD Projekt RED has said that the game will likely come out sometime in the first half of 2019, meaning we can likely expect a 2018 release date, provided everything goes according to plan.
