Capcom is known for its legendary fighting games such as the Street Fighter series and especially its versus games. Street Fighter V is the video game company’s flagship fighting game at the moment but a new versus game could be coming up soon. A recent tweet by a voice actor from Devil May Cry 5 suggests that a new Capcom fighting game is in the making.
Brian Hanford, who voiced “V” in DMC 5 made a tweet earlier which stated that he was “pumped for the next CapcomVS game”. As of right now, nothing was known of a new fighting game by Capcom. Brian’s tweet clearly indicates that a new crossover fighting game is Capcom’s new project. When he mentions “CapcomVS” it suggests that it will not be another Street Fighter game.
The tweet also mentions “new and already known characters”. There is a chance that “V” could be a playable character in the upcoming title. We base this assumption on the fact that Brain is the one who broke the news. What is interesting is that Capcom has not retracted Brian’s tweet.
Usually, video game companies eliminate any clues about their upcoming projects unless they want the information to be revealed. Recently Brian was seen backtracking on his tweet saying that he did not leak any information. This does seem like Brain accidentally revealed details that are legitimate.
Last year Capcom rejected the Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat crossover. We have already seen crossovers between Street Fighter and multiple other games like Marvel, Tekken, and Tatsunoko. It could be that Capcom is reconsidering the Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat crossover. If that is not the case, we could see a new crossover fighting game between the Devil May Cry and Street Fighter series.
There seems to be no official confirmation from Capcom regarding this new project. The possibility of the DMC universe colliding with Street Fighter’s world seems intriguing to say the least. We will have to wait and see if there is any truth to this rumor.
