The process of Trade Evolution consists of you evolving your Pokemon by trading them with a friend.
The process works a bit differently in this game than it does in others so we’ve prepared this handy guide that covers all you need to know about trade evolutions.
Trading Pokemon
If you want to trade Pokemon with someone who you have added as a friend (you have their trainer code), then meet up with them and follow these easy steps:
- Both of you should pick the Pokemon in your inventories that you want to trade.
- Ensure that the trading details are up to par.
- Tap Next.
- Review the Trade again.
- Tap Confirm.
How To Evolve Pokemon By Trading
Usually in Pokemon games, you could only evolve certain Pokemon via trading, but in Pokemon Go, these same monsters can also be evolved by giving them Candy.
However you can evolve for free any good Pokemon you secure via trade since their Candy requirement has been removed.
Even though this feature is a new addition, it applies to any already existing Pokemon in your inventory that you previously acquired through trading.
Pokemon That Can Be Trade Evolved
Although no Pokemon in the game needs to be traded in order to evolve, the process does benefit the following Pokemon by getting rid of their Candy requirements:
- Boldore
- Graveler
- Gurdurr
- Haunter
- Kadabra
- Karrablast
- Machoke
