There has been no official confirmation regarding the release date of Naughty Dog’s upcoming The Last of Us Part 2 on PC. A key retailer however, has indicated that The Last of Us part 2 would be coming to PC. The retailer set the game page up for a supposed release of a Steam version of the game. This suggests a 2020 release date though there seems to be no official statement.
Interestingly, the reseller’s website also has dedicated product pages for Sly Cooper 5 and the Dino Crisis Remake. However, there is no official foundation behind such claims and it looks like a bait to draw more publicity. So obviously, we can’t get our hopes, just yet.
When Naughty Dog announced on their Linkedin Profile that they were looking for programmers that were specialists in graphic API’s like Vulkan and DirectX 12, it caused a lot of speculation. The announcement urges programmers to send their resume’s to:
develop and implement new and existing rendering techniques for our next video game, The Last of Us Part 2.
Admittedly, looking for programmers for such popular API’s does entertain the idea that Naughty Dog has plans for bringing The Last of US part 2 to PC. When references such as “new rendering techniques” are made, no wonder it sent people’s imagination, flying.
The original Last of Us game was voted game of the decade by the Playstation community. Fans’ expectations for the sequel are off the charts. Although the first game was a PlayStation 4 exclusive, the possibility of the Last of US Part 2, arriving on PC has some exciting prospects, especially for PC gamers.
PlayStation exclusives releasing for PC isn’t something new. Games such as Quantic Dreams’ Heavy Rain, Detroit: Become Human and Beyond: Two Souls have seen a PC release. Other rumors are flying around that Horizon Zero Dawn is coming to PC as well.
We will have to be patient and see if the Last of Us Part 2 could share the same fate.
